bansheeman1988 Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 (edited) Okay, so i wanted to put in my VF3s the other day and was going to stick them onto the stock carb boots. Found that the two rubber post things on the ends of the carb boot actually fitting into the stock reed cages doesnt fit into the VF3s. The VF3s have oval holes and not a rectangular cut outs for these boots. Is this normal or are aftermarket boots needed? And should/could i just cut the raised rubber edges off the carb boots to bolt up the VF3s??? Pictures posted below Here is what i am talking about on the carb boots, the raised rubber parts on each end And the picture is a little dark, but these are the VF3s and the hole in them is an oval shape which doesnt fit up obviously!! The bolt pattern for the holes are right but dont fit together, let me know if these are the wrong reeds or whats going on!!! Thanks Fellas Edited January 15, 2008 by bansheeman1988 Quote
Dave I. Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 yep, gotta cut the rubber off......says it in the directions unless you didnt get them. Quote
bansheeman1988 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Report Posted January 15, 2008 Oh okay gotcha! I was hoping the guy off ebay didnt rip me off, but i did get a steal then!! yay cant wait to put them on now. Should i just use a razorblade to cut them? Quote
Dave I. Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 that rubber is thick and hard to cut...i used a hack saw but you can use whatever you want. Quote
bansheeman1988 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Report Posted January 15, 2008 Allright thanks guys, can always depend on the HQ for answers, gotta love it  Quote
gemini Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 yeah man i used a hack saw too. worked great. Quote
BansheeRider71 Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 ya those rubber tabs have to come off for it to mount up flush like its supposed to, when I put v-force reeds on my blaster I had to do the same thing, mine came with a little instruction card that says to cut the tabs off, I used a mini hack saw an it worked fine, when you cut thought try to make it even so it will mount up better. ClimbAnyHill Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I used the blade off a utility box cutter & slices it easily.. No need to hack em! Quote
bansheeman1988 Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 (edited) Yeah I was planning on trying that first, then if that didnt work ill turn into Jason Vorhees and chainsaw the b*tch haha  Edited January 16, 2008 by bansheeman1988 Quote
fastquad02blaster Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I just installed the ones that I bought. They give you two washers and nuts that fit the intake bolts for a makeshift jig to hacksaw the tabs off. All you really have to do is cut them flush with the rest of the flat face of the intake. Pretty easy install. Quote
