i got .20 bored over with vitos pistons , mild race port. stock reeds. boost bottle. stock air filter without the airbox lid.

FMF Goldseries pipes . and running 300 main on stock carbs.

It idles fine. but it kinda seems like theres visible smoke comin out the right side and i cant actually SEE the smoke comin out the right side , even when i rev it , even tho i feel the air comin out.

i ride it in 1st , it starts takin off fine , hits powerband , and right then it just gets into a stuttering type of mode.

it runs , not as hard as b4 , but it just makes this noise like "tadadadaddaddadadad" and as i shift into 2nd , it does that even b4 the powerband.

it did this from one day to the next. what could it be?

i have compression 120 on each side.fresh rebuild.

i took the bowls off the carb but i dont really know what else to do to clean the carb. you think its the reeds? maybe the carbs arent synced? how do i go about getting them perfectly sync'd.

thanks for your help

what do the plugs look like? if it isnt firing on one side it will still move air out of the exhaust. Dont do anymore WOT until you figure out why both cylinders arent firing

I thought they were both firing.the plugs look kinda wet , i havent done a plug chop yet . but im pretty sure theyre both firing . theres just SOMETHING affecting 1/2 to full throttle.

both get equally hot and i can hear both sides revving .

and when in 1st gear , the powerband hits REALLY hard like it always has , so idk if its only firing on one side , it doesnt sound likely

could it be the pilot jet maybe??dirty?

pilot jet is your idle-1/4 throttle for the most part...if you have having trouble at 1/2 to full you need to be looking at your needle and main jet

move the needle up and down 1 clip and see what it does....also you might want to go a little bigger on the main till you figure out where the problem is.

where exactly do i change the needle position???? ive tried looking for it before but i never find it... call me stupid lol

pull your carb cap off and look inside your slid you will see two little screws on you stock carbs unscrew them and your needle will be behind it. let it fall out in your hand then put the clip were you want it.

Whats is your elevation?

Im at sea level, and on my stock motor with no porting, just some bolt ons I was running 300 mains, I would say that you are to lean on your main...

Now with a ported motor I think I have a 340 main..

my needle is in the clip. i checked.

i went to the drag strip and met some guys who ran drag shees.

they told me that 120 pounds of compressio was WAY too low.......but theyre running cubs lol.

they told me my problem might be some sort of electrical cutoff

I started her up again today. i see today that smoke DOES come out of the left side. i was told that castor 927 doesnt smoke alot , but my right side smokes noticeably and my left side u can barely tell unless u really try to look.

i put my hand on the muffler and it gives off a bit of smoke , but if im idling , and i give it some revs and keep revving , every once in a while it spits out a gust of air.

now i know my needle is in place. my jets are clean. my head/cylinder is on tight. i have new plugs on there . and i dont THINK TORS is causing this because it doesnt sound like that , could it be my reeds? im probably goin to go check those now

well i took the reeds off . they were ok. i cleaned em off just incase . put everythin back together , and still runs the same. im fuckin pissed. and theres no local shops around here except a powersports dealer

wow fuck this.

i turn the idle knob with a screwdriver and it broke clean off.

it broke off so softly that i thought it just popped out of place , and it was a clean cut..

banshee is always broken. No one wants to reply to help.

i have spare carbs but i dont know if i can change the top piece , the TORS thing.without having to change the slide and everything.

Im gettin real sick of this thing. im about to put it in the front lawn for the garbageman to come pick it up in the morning

Relax man, take a break from it. I was there also. My compression was 110, at sea level. I took apart the top end and nothing seems to be wrong with it. IM thinking that i had an air leak. I also send the top end out to get ported and bored to the next size, and im replacing all the gaskets and the crank seals... hoping that helps with my problem or eliminates it. I also checked everything you did... reeds, carbs. everything was clean.
