badbrad Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Do they make enough of a difference to be worth $230? Is it a big jetting change too? I just have t5's right now thats only mod Quote
Dave I. Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Everything you want to know about VF3 Check that Link. Good info. Quote
badbrad Posted January 10, 2008 Author Report Posted January 10, 2008 yea thanks alot, i already used the search engine for hours and didnt find the simple answers to the question i asked. it was all more about them breaking and comparing them to other reed cages. i never installed or used them before, so thanks Quote
Dave I. Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 What you searched and found is the same thing this post will turn into.....Everyone has a different opinion.... They are good reeds. Some people say VF2 make a little more power but nothing noticeable. Some say VF2 have a screw that can fall out and kill your motor. Some like to put new pedals in the stock cages... You cant go wrong with getting a set of VF3. They are pricey but good. Shouldnt need to rejet. Buy a 35 dollar adjustable timing plate and you will notice more of a difference. Quote

They are many top DRAG race guys that use stock modified cages with epoxy or resin style reeds... They are nice reeds...but 240 is too much to pay for them... There's a dealer that sells 'em for 189.00 plus shipping, I'm sure someone knows who they are. Find a used set for 1/2 to 2/3 the price. Quote
Frogger Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 If pipes are your only mod I'd do something to increase air into the motor. Quote
BaNsHeeJuNkEy Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 look on ebay there is a guy i got mine from for 180.00 shipped once and a while he has some. but open up your intake some take the lid off or if u do a lot of mudding there is a lid with and outer wear built into it that is nice. but more air get ride of tors you will get a little more power. but if you want a good size jump in power have your head milled a little and you will notice a lot more power after you rejet it. hyperlite33 Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Many might disagree with me on this one, but I felt more power out of my VF3's than my head w/ 19cc domes on a stock motor. I think they are worth the $230 price , but then again I got mine for $125 from motorsport, which was a steal!!! Quote
WALLACE84 Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 I got mine off ebay for $185 shipped still in the package Quote
1.6i Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 (edited) i got mine at the sand show for $180...noticed more mid power...i can putt up dunes now without even hitting the power band all the time.. Edited January 10, 2008 by 1.6i Quote
Animalman294 Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Yeah, mine were like $169 from Motosport, and I thought they were a lot better than stock............ Quote
theshee Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Yeah, mine were like $169 from Motosport, and I thought they were a lot better than stock............ I agree. they are an improvement over stock. Great throttle response with the VF3's. Quote
csrmel Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 how is it that reeds give you more power if you dont have to rejet. i never understood that one. Quote
