94BANSHEE Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Hi guys! I currently have front and rear 6-ply Bandit tires and MAN are they HEAVY!! like 20lbs EACH!! I was wondering, does anyone know the lightest or a couple of the lightest 6-ply rear tires in a 20X11X9 size? In the descriptions of tires, they usually dont mention the weight Also, are Fast Trekkers made anymore and were/are they made in 6-ply as well? Thanks! Quote

From my experience with the 6 ply fast trekkers they are kinda heavy also. The 18X11X10's that I had weighed a hair over 18lbs a piece. I got them from nebraskatire.com. Not sure what they have left in stock tho. What about the new gncc holeshots? Quote
2strokespirit Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 (edited) Heavy tires is a killer, I run maxxis, razr 4 ply, never had i puncture on trails and XC with my set this year. Some holeshots are light and dunlop make pretty light tires, but they are 2 ply (some are 4) Edited December 7, 2007 by 2strokespirit Quote
. Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 you're not going to find a light 6 ply tire, only difference in weight is going to be the weight of the lugs. I bought some mudsharks and they are probably the best all around tire I've run so far. I've run holeshots and they hook at first, but as soon as you wear the edge off them, they just want to spin (unless you shorten your swingarm) The mudsharks hook much harder, they are a pretty soft rubber so they wear a little quicker, but you'll get good traction until they are beat. First time I had them out up in hazleton, I got a little hole in the sidewall, and was like great.....they are gonna get holes left and right. I've beat the crap out of them against rocks since then, and they are now beat, and they've survived. I think they are 4 ply, and they are decently light. Much lighter than my realtors. I'll definitely be getting another set. they are very controlled in their sliding as well, and seem to have traction no matter which way your back end is sliding. The tread design makes a lot of sense on them. Quote

foxracing350 Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 i run 6 ply 20x11x9 razrs and i love them and i belive they are lighter than 20lbs Quote
Dinner Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 I don't think you will really find a light set of 6 Ply 20's. If you would like a lighter tire, 4 ply would probably do you plenty. I have 2 ply fronts and I'm surprised at what they have gone through. And if I know im going to be doing some rough terrain I'll throw on my rear 22" 6 Ply Dirt Devils with steel rims...little heavier. Quote
