First...the why part of my question....

Why is the clutch of a 1000cc 165+ HP motorcycle easy to pull in while the Banshee one so much harder? Even with the 3 stock-3 HD springs, (thanks again, Hyperlite33!!) it is still a stiffer pull. It's not that I can't do it....it just seems that 1/2 the HP should lend itself to an easy pulling clutch lever. I can pull in the clutch on my YZ with a pinkie and my ZX10r with an index finger!!

Now the what part....

I've heard of running an R6 clutch pack (is there a better one?) in place of the original Banshee plates. Is it only the fibers or also the steels? What is the benefit and why? Is this setup preferred over the Banshee parts? Would you also use the springs? Any special install notes?

Thanks, Jay.

Jay,

I'm not 100% but I want to say the R6 and the FZR1000 plates are the same part# either way you nly need to get the fibers. and you can use the stock banshee steels. the fibers are made of a differant material that will grab the steels better and will not burn out under pressure like the cheap banshee ones. you can use 3 stock springs and three hd springs and it will hold fine.

as far as the cltch pull goes does your crotch rocket have a hydrolic clutch ? also the lever and perch could be built differant with a differant pivot point. an ez pull perch and lever will make a huge differance in the pull. although it still wont be as ez as a dirt bike.

im not familiar with the clutch on the other bikes but they could possibly work differant then a ball and rod being pushed by the actuator and that could be the differance, but thats just a complete guess

EZ Pull lever AND new clutch cable.

You'll be surprised how easy the pull is with 3HD/3 stock and a new perch, lever and cable.

Like a brand new 125 on the showroom floor...

Definitely worth getting an adjustable clutch perch/lever and a new cable, it makes a world of difference when you change the leverage at the perch/lever and it seems like no matter how much or little you lube the clutch cable it just gets tough to move over the years. I've been running MSR's Raptors for a while in the shorty version, I can slip it with one finger no prob. There's a few out there, I had a PEP on my 250R way back in the day and I think ASV even makes 'em with different pull settings now, not sure but I saw a couple different ones somewhere that looked trick...
