Shearer Packing

What are you guys using for the packing. My shit keeps spitting shit out like a mother. I'm running rich but not as bad as it keeps getting all over my 6 pack rack. Want to repack them to see what I get.

alot of guys use corning insulation. i usually just buy the fmf pink packing that looks like strings.

Is it blowing oil on your rack or packing material?

I use house insulation. seems to work good.

it can still spit oil with new packing , you can buy packing for like 15 bucks or i use pink house r34 insulation its even cheaper

It's blowing out the oil. Any suggestions why it's doing this? I just figured they're soaked and keeps coming out. I bought some of that fmf packing today and going to try it over the weekend. Got to have it ready for New Year's, Glamis baby!

 

Matt from shearer said to use tape around it to keep it tight, you guys do this?

yeah I tape mine to the silencer core. helps when you are tryin to reinstall it too!

my shearers spit oil on my 6 pack rack also....i think its just the angle they come out at or something....my toomeys never did it.....

The bulk packing from FMF or Cascade is good stuff.

yea get some masking tape and wrap around the packing. you ant it nice and tight. dont cover the whole thing. when you take out the old packing you should see how they did it.

I used the insulation that they used to pack and ship my Shearers! :biggrin:

Packing isnt intended to be an oil rag. It is to absorb sound. If your blowing oil out get a cleaner burning oil and mix it leaner or deal with the oil. If your running a quart of oil in 8 gallons of gas where do you think that quart of oil is going to endup after burning 8 gallons of gas?

927 is a pretty dirty buning oil compaird to others out there. It is or has caster oil in it and it burns dirty. Try running a synthetic that advertise being smokless.
