bonbon Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 If it squished out right, something else it wrong...Either a worn bearing or the head/dome was improperly installed and it moved..etc. What did it squish out at...just for conversations sake...and did you check both sides, parallel with the wrist pin? Loco...I'm thinking Mike's side is tails right now...that's sure what he's getting kicked in... I don't remember the exact squish I had, 0.055" is what comes to mind. Yes I checked parallel with the wristpin, both sides. I was running 2 base gaskets to lower my compression a bit so there is no way that the piston should have been hitting the dome. Unless the dome moved like you said or was messed up itself. It looked right when I took it all apart to put the 20cc's in. Now I'm going off the fact that I have had no problems with the 20cc domes. I ran them (hard) for 4 days at LS Utah and then pulled the head apart when I got back and it looks fine. I don't remember what my squish was on the 20's. Quote
dajogejr Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Odd... Bonbon...don't take any of this as doubting you, it's not. It's more or less my mechanical curiousity as to "why"...that's all... Quote
06BaNsHeE Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Honestly he better have a damn good reason for all this BS...Kiel werent you good friends with Mike?Sure glad I take my hard earned $$ to Mccoy. Quote
theshee Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 We were, and this is a classic example what happens when you mix friendship and business. One or the other will eventually go, and that leads to both going out the window. Im done with it all now, Gregs stuff has been taken care of, things are settled with mike and I, and I have found my new parts guy in Jeff @ FAST, so things are fine now. Quote
bonbon Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Odd...Bonbon...don't take any of this as doubting you, it's not. It's more or less my mechanical curiousity as to "why"...that's all... No problem man, I'm just as confused by that as anybody else. I was just pointing out that I would most likely not have had this problem if I had the 20cc's right away because they have been working fine. It's probably just one of the domes was slightly messed up, or maybe they did move in the head for some reason. I just know its working good now and it didn't before with other parts. If I do come up with anything as to why it happened I'll let you know, I'm just as interested as you are. Quote
theshee Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Jon, Next time you have that head apart send it down to me, I can polish those coolheads to look like a mirror. Quote

Just get bite on them screws (PB Blaster and Mabey a bigger screwdriver so there no room except user error to strip them) and go real straight to get them out. If you do strip them you can always slot the heads of the screws and they will come rite out. Thats what I had to do on the stator/timing plate screws. I even put them back in sloted like that. Quote
