I was wonedrering if anyone could help me with this prob.I did the top end not my first time .I started it ran it threw some heat cycles. It idled fine reved fine went and took of on it and when i went to shut it off it reved to the max.I got it shut down and havent messed with it other than swapping the topend over to another bike. Now i know there was an air leak but would a crank seal pull that much .I was told it was probably a topend end leak. Also the crank is good so should i split the cases and put seals or should i just put a topend on it and try it again.

Same thing happened to my buddy and his blaster. It was bad crank seals.

where can i find the engine id #s to tell my what year they are

No need...they are all the same part number.

Before you go tearing into the engine, are you 100% sure the carbs weren't sticking? hate to see you tear it all apart for something like a sticking carb, etc....

well i want to sell a couple of engines and thought it would be better if i knew what year they where.I also thought i should at least know what the prob was or fix .The carbs are fine cause it reved all the way out by it self.I rode it around my yard went to pull back in the garage. I was not even on the gas then it just reved to the moon I grabed the clutch and laid on the rear brake to kill it..

standard banshee carbs are prone to sticking, nobody knows "exactly" why,not even yamaha! think thats why they put the shitty TORS system on.you dont need much throttle for her to rev out max with the clutch pulled in,because u wernt on wot doesnt mean that the carbs wernt sticking, ive been there on this one, many others here too,i think your carbs want junking.

well i run pwk carbs and all i did was swap top ends over and installed other motor never a prob since. I guess i should just say im selling as a parts motor then or ?.Should i replace seals to get more $ out of it .I just want to be straight when I sell it.

i know where your comming from.well just tell em how it is,wouldnt say spares engine but repairable motor, have you done a leak test? dont go loosin $$$ by saying its leaky if in the end it was your carbs.leak test it and do a compression test.

Mine did the same thing, but it was when I had the fuel turned off and i was idling it trying to run the fuel out of the carb. It started to pick up rpm's, I hit the kill switch and it kept on revving to the moon. Put in gear, held break and killed it after it was 10-12k rpm's. Will not make that mistake again. I run pwk's so it was not stuck throttle or tors bs, just leaned out and basically dieseled itself. but at 10k rpms
