ozbanshee Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Anyone know if the 450 shocks with reservoirs are rebuildable, if so are they expensive to repair. I have the change to get some cheap but one is leaking! Quote
chevy7398 Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 i dont remember if they are rebuildable but i know TCS sells dual or tripple rate spring kits for them and i believe they can rebuild them also. Quote
RoostRocket Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 yeah they are rebuilable but its not cheap i think its like 200 plus just for the service and like 400 for the dual rate spring kit. Quote
racer Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 do it yourself! its, real fuckin easy. One of mine is in pieces right now. Quote
FireHead Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 do it yourself! its, real fuckin easy. One of mine is in pieces right now. Word. Race Tech seems to make a good kit for such things. However, TCS does great work and all of my current rear shocks have been done by them. A word of caution though, if you go to their shop in-person, watch out for the folks in Lake Elsinore, there seems to be alot of imbred crap that goes on out there. Quote
racer Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 Racetech for sure. Valves and valving all in one stop! Quote
Washburn Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 http://www.gtthunder.com/ If I wanted some shocks rebuilt I would definatly go to GT Thunder. Ive seen their stuff in action and its all good. Quote
THE358BANSH Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 So I'm trying to rebuild my yfz fronts right now, key word trying  . Got them disassembled, cleaned and ready to put back together, and I realize I don't know how or how much shock oil to refill with. Do I need to purge the resivoir, then fill the body? What gives? He's probably your best bet on the HQ. Quote
racer Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 MAKE SURE THE RESI IS PRESSURIZED. That is absolutely critical. I don't know the fluid volume. I just filled mine up so that with the valving in the can the oil is a little under the circlip groove. Then i push in the seal head and set the clip. Make real sure you have good pressure in the reservoir though. If you fill it up improperly you can hydrolock the system and cause your self some headaches. Quote
racer Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 I'll post my procedure step by step if you want. Quote
THE358BANSH Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 Thanks for your help through the pm's. I already hydrolocked the shocks up yesterday and it was a b*tch getting the undone. I think a sticky could be arranged if the write up was good enough with some nice pictures. Ill help if you would like. Quote
FireHead Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 I'll post my procedure step by step if you want. .................I can't read. Quote
racer Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 I would do it, but.......I don't have a camera, and my shocks are in one piece. Maybe next time I'll put in some gold valves and do a write up. Quote
racer Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 .................I can't read. Me either, words mean nothing anymore. I can only decipher formulas and drawings. Quote
