  1. I am also looking to increase fuel capacity, anyone got pictures of the 4 gal or 5.6 gal on a shee? IMS don't show any decent pics online.
  2. I found this link on HQ the other day has all the info you will ever need for carbs http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/jetfaq.html Q#27). If the tip of the float needle and the seat is clean, check the float height. Hang the float needle back on the float bracket and set the assembly back in place so that the float needle drops into it
  3. Thanks Dan, I have mine set up the same at the moment, will have to wait until tomorrow to try it out. Can you see in + or - markings on your coil. I have read that they will still run but the spark will be weak if reversed? http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/jetfaq.html Electrical Add Degree key or Timing plate with advanced ignition timing:0-1 sizes larger on the mains, adjust airscrews Switch coil wires (A lot of Banshees come from the factory with the orange positive wire on the
  4. Can anyone tell me which terminals are positive and negative on the ignition coil? I lent my Haynes manual to a mate and can't get hold of him. I think the orange / positive is to the front of the frame. Is this correct? Are the coils marked and can I see it without unbloting the damn thing?
  5. I spoke to the supplier on Friday and Elka say the same thing, he asked me to try it and make sure i'm happy. Rode it yesterday and wish i had bought this thing 5 years ago, i would have to say that it isby far the best money i have spent on the quad to date. I highly recommend it to anyone considering and upgrade. Thanks for your input guys and happy ridin.
  6. Yeah i think something may have been set up wrong at the factory. The dealer has been really cool so far, i have forwarded more photos and ride height to him and he is talking with Elka in Canada about it. Hope i can get it sorted soon. Have a big weekend away planned with about 8 other quads at the end of September. It took three weeks to get it over to me the first time, i live on the West Coast of Australia. cheers for the feedback.
  7. Sorry that would be a birthday photo, lets try again
  8. Is anyone running the Elka Dual Rate rear shock? I have just bought one and fitted it on the weekend. I had to apply a lot of preload just to get the bike to sit level without any load. The top spring is fully compressed/coil bound just to get the ride height correct. I spoke to the dealer and he says that is normal and the top spring only provides assistance when the wheel leave the ground and the shock extends. Does this sound right?
  9. Anyone know if the 450 shocks with reservoirs are rebuildable, if so are they expensive to repair. I have the change to get some cheap but one is leaking!
  10. Might be a silly question but due you have your TORS removed. I had trouble with the switch on the thumb throttle doing crazy things. Will it start if you open the throttle slightly ?
  11. For what your looking to do 450 shocks should be fine. I'm sure I read a thread on here a few months back on how to install, great walk through on how to install, pictures and all included. Do a search so you know what your up for before you buy some. Looked preet straight forward.
  12. Sorry about the slow response dude. I'm over on the West Coast about 200km south of Perth. We have a great choice of riding over here. From dunes to fast trails and nasty hill climbs. Hope you enjoy that fresh motor, don't hesitate with any questions, i'm no guru but a few mates over here have Shee's if we can help out just yell.
  13. Fuchs Silkolene Comp 2 (semi-synthetic) 40:1. You should be able to buy that in NZ. I pay about $70AUS for 4l bottle.
  14. You will probably get a lot of different response to this question (do a search if you want them all). In my opinion just go easy on it for at least a tank of juice. Ride it gently for ten minute or so then pull over and let it cool down again. good chance to check nothing has fallen off or leaked. You should be pretty safe bringing it up high in the revs, just be sure not to hop on and ring its neck. Bit like a new girlfriend, treat it gently till you get to know how it's going to respond, once your tired of that get nasty with it. Just use whatever premix you are going to use all the time. Hope this is of some help. Good to here about some more shee's in this part of the world.
