Hey guys, first post here, looks like a great site! I recently bought an 02 banshee and have ridden about 40 hours. It has always ridden perfect except 2 times when I went through some mud holes. They werent that deep but were real wet and the bike and I were totally covered in a watery slime. After the mud holes it runs on one cylinder it seems and goes back and forth to either cylinder. Spitting blue smoke like mad. I am also getting oil coming out of the spark plug gaps and they are tight. I am thinking abou tearing into this weekend and any insight as to what may be the problem would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Sounds like your sucking water. Are you running the airbox lid on with a foam filter with sticky blue oil?

Where are you at with your jetting? Stock or aftermarket carbs? What alltitude do you ride at? and what ratio are you running your premix? Are you leaking any fluids out of your pipes? Did you change the oil yet? If so did it come out milky?

BTW- Welcome to the BANSHEE HQ

Banshee don't like water, could be you sucked some in, or it could be the CDI got wet.

Generally...the CDI is fine if it gets wet.

I can tell you first hand the stator and pickup don't like to get wet.

Remove the left side footpeg, shifter and sidecover, and see if you got water behind that...

Has a K&N filter, no lid, stock exhaust without the cores. Stock carbs aswell. Don't see any leaks, and will check the oil.

Thanks

sounds exactly like mine did

and this is how i fixed it

i went throuth the wiring and re soldered all the joints (that were splitting or rusty) and than used emalgium (think thats how its spelt) its a tape that steches and seals very well

than i got new plug caps and wires (NGK) and replaced the old ones, i think that was the problem

i also sealed the wires going to the stator with salastic

than i could go through water... happlily

i hope this helps

Thers your problem, cant run a K&N with the lid off if your going through water at all it will suck rite through. If you cant avoide water I recomend a Uni 2:1 foam filter with the tacky blue bel ray foam filter oil in the bottle and Lid on.

I always had electrical problems with my LT250R running it through water, I just bought a new coil and electric taped the shit out of all of the wires.

Ok, that makes sense, but what about the oil coming out of the spark plug holes?
