Snopczynski Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 did you leave the stock o-rings out? Did you make sure the hub end pressure plate was flat on the last fiber on the install? Are the clutch case engagement arrows lined up? Is the cable slack adjusted properly. Quote
gemini Posted October 15, 2007 Author Report Posted October 15, 2007 yes i left the cushion rings out, all the arrows line up where they are supposed to, and the cable is adjusted as define in the clymers manual. has pancake bearing and cable with adjustment in the middle of the cable. does that change anything? MDS2106 Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Did you soak the fibers in oil before you installed them? Quote
theshee Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Replace your inner and outer hubs. My 4mil did the same thing, the hubs didnt look bad but they were wore out. Give Jeff a shout, he has the hibs at a good price. Quote
2strokespirit Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 When you replaced the clutch, your first plate should be a friction plate one and not a metal one, you should end with a friction plate as well. sometimes people put the metal plate in first and this will cause a lot of slip. locogato11283 Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 if your basket needed replacing, chances are your hubs do too... Quote
dajogejr Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 You're running a cheapo clutch on a 4 mil with alky using only 3HD springs and 3 stockers? Two things, get a real clutch...and either use all 6 HD springs or get a lockout clutch. You're kidding yourself if you think a properly tuned 4 mil on alky, OEM cylinder or cub is gonna last with that setup...and as loco said, check the inner and outer hub as well. Quote

gemini Posted October 15, 2007 Author Report Posted October 15, 2007 Did you soak the fibers in oil before you installed them? yeah the fibers had been soaked, that a good or bad thing? Quote
dajogejr Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Ahh...got it. Tusk should be ok with a bolt on, simple ported motor...my fault, sorry bout that. Soaking is a good thing, but not a big deal IMO. See if you can feel or see a lip on the outer edges of the inner/outer. If you can, replace them. Quote
Snopczynski Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 You never answered if the last fiber was flat against the pressure plate. Quote
okbeast Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 You never answered if the last fiber was flat against the pressure plate. Unless it's not completely obvious that something is wrong if the last fiber was against the pressure plate i would bet it was. After as much shit has gone wrong with this bike everything gets looked over really close b4 it's put back together. Quote
gemini Posted October 15, 2007 Author Report Posted October 15, 2007 You never answered if the last fiber was flat against the pressure plate. yes, everything fit nicely into place when the clutch was reassembled. Quote
blowit Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 yes, everything fit nicely into place when the clutch was reassembled. depending on how bad things are slipping, I will say go mark a line on your wheel and tire and go ride. I think your tires may be slipping on the wheels. Brandon Quote
