mrfatride Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 thanks all in advanced! i just picked up a 99 banshee from a friend and i am looking for some insight.... like i said its a 1999 and all that i know of that is done to it is it has a set of FMF Gold Series Fatty's on it and CF reeds.....I ride mostly trails with it but it will see the dunes every once in awhile....im looking for motor mods and any other mods that would help the performance of the banshee. i do know it currently runs 32:1 fuel mix and it is jetted a lil on the rich side.....I plan on removing the airbox lid (has k&n with outerwear) and running a 40:1 mix and rejet....(what kind of jetting would i need?) love the bike but as it sits right now i cant even catch a stock 700r which is kinda depressing but hopefully just rejetting it and removing the lid will help that situation.... peak-j Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 (edited) First you could do +4 timing advance with an adjustable timing plate, and either get your head milled and save some money or buy a coolhead. If you ride mostly trails, try a 13 tooth front sprocket. It helped my lowend a little bit in the trails. Also, if it's not done go ahead and to the TORS removal. You could also put a K&N air filter with the pro flow adapter on it, unless you already have it. It's not an engine mod as far as performance, but put a case saver on if you don't have one already. 350BANSHEE350 Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 well my stock banshee beats a new 700 so something isnt right either your compression is low or yu are too rich so check your compression do a plug chop use a quality premix oil (amsoil, klots, castrol, maxima, etc) 40:1 is a good mix depending on your elevation i cant relly help out with the jetting but i think safe would be 290-300 mains with the lid removed but a plug chop is very important and so is a compression check if a stock raptor is beating you fmf are good pipes and as long as you have the outter wear for the k&n you should be fine but dont remove the lid unless you have no water to go through well good luck with her and dont forget to check your compression and do a plug chop you compression should be 120ish psi and both cylinders should be within 5 psi from each other Quote
mrfatride Posted October 12, 2007 Author Report Posted October 12, 2007 i will check the compression this weekend! i live in south east michigan so i would say my elevation is close to sea level.....im running br8es plugs right now as well and have fouled out 2 pairs of plugs in like 2 weeks which leads me to believe that it is running real rich right now or i got too much oil in her..... I do think the bike has a boost bottle/canister as well so i do not know if that would make much of a difference or not..... Quote
peak-j Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 You might as well take the boost bottle off, they claim it doesn't do anything. Quote
mrfatride Posted October 12, 2007 Author Report Posted October 12, 2007 will do! im guessing the tors removal has something to do with those big silver things on top of the carbs? Quote
JdiZzla Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 will do! im guessing the tors removal has something to do with those big silver things on top of the carbs? Yeah those are the tors its easy to take them off you can get a kit with new carb caps from vitos and im sure other dealers aswell. Or you can just un plug everything that is connected to the tors boxes including the littleblack box on the left side of the frame under the front plastic mount. Quote
