I just got an 87 banshee, its stock other then TORS removal. Just sitting there off, its really hard to shift into 4-6 and i cant even get it into 1-3. Im 98% sure someone has had it apart before. Im just curious as to what you all think the problem is. Im pretty sure its shift forks. I know how to rebuild all these things but have never done a banshee before.

Planned on that, as soon as i get the time. Would it be a good idea to buy new seals and gaskets while i have it apart? I dont trust this guys work.

100%. If you're gonna take it down that far, a new seal kit is 20 bucks or so...I sure as hell would replace 'em all...especially being 20 years old...and not sure what he replaced or "claims" to have replaced...

I have another banshee that bored out to 400 from what i was told. It has T5's and was wondering what the compression i should expect out of it. I need to tune it the right side isnt getting as hot, its quieter, and doesnt smoke as much.

If its a 400 it should be a stroker. Compression is going to be what the builder set up at. It needs to be at least 130 psi to be more than stock.

Thank you for the help. Ill test it when i get home. I just want to get the tune even, so i dont blow the motor. How long should it take a novice who is VERY mechanically inclined, and a fast learner to get it right? I dont feel like paying someone to do somthing i need to learn to do anyhow.

if you have a clymer manual you shouldnt have any trouble with it. banshees have one of the simplest motors in any bike.

And...you've got the right attitude, good for you. Just like a woman...get to know her...except there's a manual to help you along, the Clymers.

Thats awesome, never heard that one before. Now i also am going to end up doing the clutch in a blaster too. I just adjusted the internal part and put freash oil in hopefully that works. I love the internet i got the Clymers for the banshee and blaster in a PDF, also have about 95% of a print copy for the banshee. The 5% missing is the glue from the binding. LOL
