How money do you have to spend on a 700 to beat a ported shee? Just curious.

Nobody builds up fast bikes here....

Going fast costs money, period.

A set of dual barkers, power commander and an intake will set you back about

a grand. That right there will wake the bike up. You can also get cams, pistons,

big bore kits and so on. And you can tune it all in with your laptop instead of

changing jets. :geek:

In the end, you're still comparing apples to oranges.

About 1500 bucks and you can beat one. With me riding mikes 770 on alcohol, it will beat a couple ported 421 cubs on alky. After next weekend I would imagine mine will be right there with the throttle body being bored, and the new high comp piston, and good dyno tune. Should make right around 62 horse.

I went to Pismo yesterday and rode my wifes stock 700r all day. Went out to the drags where there were a few Banshees runnin alcohol that I wasn't even going to line up with. However, the group I was with had a heavily modded 450 that ran all over me. There was also a piped 660 that I ran heads up with all day draggin. When he was goin WOT down Sand Higway I could give him 100ft and still catch him and pass him like he was sittin still in 4th.

I'm not saying the Raptor is a better ride then the Shee, but it's got a lot of potential. I think I could have been faster if I'd have remembered to shift sooner. I kept trying to wind it out like I was on my Shee. :ermm: Plus, it sure was nice to not have to worry about mixin gas. When we were done for the day I just dumped the extra 5 gallons in the truck and drove home.

I just thought this was funny....this guy bet me $100 that his craptor 660 would out-run the shee...... I still had a gear left and passed him half throttle in 5th, but hey its $100 in my pocket haha....whats with these ppl thinkin they can hang with the banshee, GIVE UP already.

Nice kill story to make your BHQ intro!! $100 in ya pocket sounds great..

I like this thread good conversation between Shee & Rappy..

A friend & I have the bikes going thru mod's right now, I'll have my kill story ready by next Glamis run.

i think some of you guys are brainwashed with these stories of "killing" craptors, honestly.. they are not slow, hell they shouldnt be with that kidn of displacement, but either way, they arnt slow,... top heavy, yes, lack of top end power, yes, but definatly not as slow as alot of you are making them out to be, i rode with a kid yesterday who had a brand new one, only a few months old, we were dead even through the gears, i had a TINY bit more on the top end and would start to slowley pull past him, but nothing to brag about, although he told me he weighs 150 pounds(from the look of him maybe if he was soaking wet with a pocket full of chnage he was 150, but id say more liek 140 i bet),either way... i weigh bout 240 pounds, so i have about 100 pounds on him, i got 100 psi left in my topend and a set of t5's/k&n, , he was bone stock, and we were neck and neck till 6th gear and then i would walk slowley away... that says alot for a banshee to be carying an extra 100 pounds, have a top end with not much compression left and still run with the biggest bore, efi sport quad out there, but that also says the raptor aint slow.. by any means, ..now another guy i ride wiith had a piped 700, and we are about the same weight and i can walk away from his definatley, but not like you guys are describing, "killing at half throttle in 5th gear". sorry , unless you are ported or stroked or something, no way your thumb was all the way down buddy hahah... ill definatley agree though, with equal weight riders, both being just piped, the banshee definatley has an edge past 3rd gear, the craptor falls on its face in the top end.. but cmon guys no reason to bash the craptor....hell one day when i have the money id love to own a craptor or 450 as a second quad

I agree with that post. They are no slouches by anymeans and have TONS of potential. After the piston I put in today, and when my throttle body gets back from KDS, its going to take a pretty fast bike to beat it. Biggest thing I notice about racing raptors, is they come out of the hole so hard, that it makes them very hard to run down. I am just glad I am foutunate enough to have both the raptor and a banshee, so I can ride the fence on the vs. threads. Ive done enough riding on both machines, I know what kind of raptor it takes to beat a good banshee and visa versa.

I duned my dads 06 700 raptor earlier today in glamis, (had no more gas in the shee and no more in my 5 gal tank, and didnt feel like mixing any more from my friends gas) so i took it out...damn compared to my shee from all weekend of riding the shee, i had no close calls of falling or any problems jumping, as soon as i hit the first dune on the 700 it wanted to buck me off... the suspension on that thing sucks ass. imo...its hella top heavy too...riding from the wash past olds i hit alittle tree burm and it bucked me off after a not so perfect landing lol..breaking the light clean off...I dont know maybe its just me but that thing definetly needs some better suspension from factory (i know they upgraded on the 07's)...and more top end too...for having twice the displacment as the shee, im not impressed at all...we need to make some adjustments

Of course it's not slow, it's a 700cc motor. No doubt the Rappy has power.

My friend & I trash talk about each others bikes all the time so we're looking fwd to a good run.

I'm not raggn on anyone else's rides. I'll be back from Glamis to talk about the kill :yelrotflmao:

1.6- Is the 700 you are ridng a SE or not? The SEs have better suspension the a YFZ so thats not really a downfall of the 700s. Comprared to stock banshee suspension, the 700 is better hands down.

Im gonna have to but in on this. I dont know what hapened but old banshee suspension is better than the new suspension. I know that every body is gonna DIS AgREE ABOUT THIS BUT GO TO A DEALER AND FEEL some of the new suspension, it feels like crap. But yes 700 suspension is better than banshee suspension.

ill agree, stock the raptor suspension is definatly better, the rear shock, right from the factory is just plusher/smoother, but the fronts are junk just like the banshees, just better of the 2, but that still isnt saying much, even my $600 works triprate rez's ride 10 times better than those junk, ive never ridden the SE craptor, but i couldnt imagine it being any better than the 450 shocks, if thats not what they are? and they arnt that great, but i guess you could always have tcs or one of them put a dual/trip rate package on and revalve them, and its funny all these really expensive new quads are comin with plastic bumpers and skid plates on them, what is up with that?
