highroller355 Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 but dont know to much about them Quote
Bansh-eman Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 they are supposed to be very touchy but incredibly easy to tune... you might toss a post onto planet sand, they are a ton of guys over there that have experiance with them they wuld probly be of more assistance Quote
Snopczynski Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Pros= More bottom end power than other carbs. Cons= Pain in the ass to tune, and hard to get needles for. Quote

Snopczynski Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 You have to know where your running rich or lean and pick a needle that corresponds. They dont have a main jet, just a power jet. Which only comes into play partially at wot. Quote
Speed freak Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 I am running lectrons and once you understand how to operate them they are a very simple carb..what I mean is some times people over think the tunning and get it all out of wack Roger at wicked explained it to me one time and now it is a breeze ..maybe you should give him a call he can answer all you questions about the lectrons... dajogejr Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 The two industry standard names in Lectron tuning are Packard Racing and Fast by Gast. Lectrons are pricey...but anyone that understand how they work and how they tune (I absolutely don't) say they are the cat's ass. I've also read they are not as finicky about temp changes, etc., and the run of the mil carbs (Keihin, Mikuni..) I bet you Dennis Packard could get your carbs 95% perfect for your setup...you'd have to adjust the metering rod and power jet dial to fine tune it (both externally adjustable)... I've always wanted to try Lectrons....I'm just not shelling out 500 to 600 for a set....my pumper Keihins get it done for me... Quote
theshee Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 I was thinking hard about making the switch, but like dave said, my 40mm Keihins work fine for me. Quote

dajogejr Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Isnt't that the same as any other carb?? you have to know where your rich or lean and pick the jet/needle that corresponds?? Yes... But...they don't have the traditional air screw and pilot jet. They have a needle with a funky taper that you turn to richen/lean the mixture, and high RPMs are fed by a power jet...or as they call them, fuel enrichment circuit. And if I'm not mistaken, all adjustments are external, no need to pop the bowl off... Quote

Once you know where you bike is having problems, you adjust it. Wether its turning the needle or buying a new needle. You adjust the carb ocordingly. Edited October 3, 2007 by Fouledout421 Quote
