I just cut one of my fenders a few minutes ago.. Some other dude on this site told me how... I used a jigsaw, I cut right at the Bend of the plastic and used a razor blade to smooth out the shaving's now i just got to smooth it out with some fine grit sand paper... see how it turns out. Im considering a paint job. too

yup like i told him go to wal mart and get a black and decker jig saw for like 15 bucks. mark where you want to cut with some electrical tape and get it all nice and even, once it looks good mark it with a sharpie and remove the tape... start cutting. as you cut some plastic will melt, once your done get the edge of a razor and drag it along the plastics and remove the left overs. you dont need to actually cut it off, just drag the blade and it will come off. then i use medium grit to flatten any imperfectiong. then wet sand it to a perfect smooth surface and round the edges.

I always use a dremel tool to do it, but either will work fine. Just take your time, measure off the cuts you want, tape it and cut it. If you get in a hurry it will look like it when you are done.

I use a good sharp utility knife. I freehand most of the ones I cut, but you could use masking or electrical tape and make your lines how you want them, build up 2 or 3 layers of tape to use for a guide, then run the blade over your tapeline several times in the same cut until it cuts all the way through, you have to use a little pressure.

This leaves a cleaner edge than a dremmel or a jigsaw and makes for quicker cleanup.

just my .02

Don't use sand paper to finish it, use a little propane / butane torch. you'll never get the factory finished shine back with sand paper, it'll look matted, but heating it with a torch just enough, will smooth it out and bring back out the factory shine and it'll look like a factory finished edge.

if you use 600 grit wet paper you can make it look new as day... when i did the heat it looked like crap. so i re did it with wet paper and it looked very clean

As for the cutting tool, I found that the best thing to use is this Green Drill cutting wheel from Home Depot. They have them in the tool section for around $7.00-$8.00. The wheel attaches to your drill and is about 6 - 8 inches in Diameter, so you can't get a crooked line. First use masking tape to get your lines where you want them (with the fenders attached to your bike) just start at the back end and work you way up to the front. You can probably get about three sets done on one wheel. Use a razor blade and fin grit sand paper to finish things off.

You should really try the GREEN WHEEL, I think it's the best thing in the world.........
