Outnumbered Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Well, My shee has been setting for 5 years( borken back, pelvis, and femur will put you out of the game). I got it out of the shed. Cleaned both carbs over night in gunk carb cleaner in the gallon can, new plugs, got OK spark(its not the greatist), I couldn't find the key so I wired around it by the wiring diagrams in my clymer manuel. I've kicked and kicked until I feel like I'm going to pass out. And it will not start. When I pull the plugs there is a gas smell on them, but they are barely wet. Its new mix with yamaha lube. 93 octane. I set the air screws to 2 turns out, and the Idle was 1 and 1\2 on right and 1 and 3\4 left. And that is where I put them back to. Carb boots look good. I haven't check the reed vavles, but I didnt think there was anything there to go bad. This thing is stock. Only thing done to it is TORS elem, tether switch, key switch and on\off bypassed, headlights removed and nerf bars. The gas was drained and cylindrs where foged. its a 2001 that I bought new and was barely riden before I was hurt in 2002(on a BMX not the shee), maybe 20 hours total. Any Ideas why it will not start. Should I try starting fluid to get it going. Or should I buy some factory carbs off ebay and try that. I was thinking about a ricky stator kit with new coil to help the spark, but its been sitting so the stater and coil shouldn't be bad should it. I'm lost when it comes to gas burners. Quote
Devans Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 hmm. Should fire right up. I would try some started fluid, do not use much though. Starter fluid strips oil from the cylinder walls, as long as its getting fuel it wont hurt to use a tiny bit. Did you make sure your choke tube was connected between your carbs? Quote
