o.k, what the hell is a stroker motor? Are they 2 strokes?

 

I see them on all the custom and well, "Bad Ass" banshees. Anyone have a video of one running?

Stroker can be in a 4 stroke or a 2 stroke motor. Basically you move the rod pin on the crank flyweights to increase stroke. They dont sound any different than a stock stroked motor, so the video would be pointless unless you wanted to see how fast they are.

Reason I'm asking is because one, I dont know obviously and 2, I'm looking to buy a custom banshee soon and see alot of banshees with these stoker motors.

 

I just want to make sure I dont buy a 4 stroke banshee.

 

 

I want one that looks similar to and sound like these :biggrin:

there is no such thing as a 4 stroke banshee. so if you buy one theres a problem.

Stroker Motor... Meaning It Has A Differant Rod(longer), Longer The Rod The Longer The Stroke, Some Goes With the Shorter the Rod The Shorter The Stroke

Also Increases Displacement(c.c.)

A longer rod is used in conjunction with a piston that has a higher wrist pin height (795 series or blaster pistons)

It lessens the rod angle on the piston...lessening the stress of it trying to push the piston through the side of the cylinder.

 

A crank shaft that has an offset from stock location for the rod journal pin is a stroker crank.

If it is 2mm off set vs. the stock location, it is a 4 mil stroker crank (2mm on Top Dead Center, 2mm on Bottom Dead Center)

actually i have heard yamaha is considering a 4-stroke 500cc banshee for the next model year or so...apparently they already have a prototype...just won't be the same though....dbr

I cant believe he just said that. Did you know they still make the banshee, its being sold in Canada and Europe in 2008 still. They are not making a 4 stroke banshee.

Hey HillClimbr, I would just reccomend to read up some more. Study the Banshee as much as possible.

Not to be rude but doesn't sound like you're ready to buy a built Banshee.
