klotz_racr Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Would i have to have a cub, if i was wanting to run a 4 mil stroker? I am getting a trail/mild drag port done for more top end. I will also be gettin my shearer inframes soon. But i wanted to keep my stock cylinders. Do i have to get them bored out any? Also, are there special pistons for a stroker? I only do trails like 2 times a year but i will mostly be going on back roads and i really want top end and dont have the dough to cpend on a cub. thanks tyler Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 you can have your stock cylinders ported for a 4 mill crank. You only have to bore them if the walls are messed up. And yes wiseco makes special pistons for the stoker motors. Your builder should be able to help ya figure out what all ya need Quote
Hilarious Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 I have a 4 mill long rod hot rods crank on ported stock cylinders. And I plan to make the jump to a cub cylinder set up one day. As far as i know, you should be able to move into a cub with the 4 mill. You need to know what crank you have and go from there. if you have a long rod crank, you will need pistons to compliment the extended rod length. Quote

STINKYDELUXE Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 and i would stay away from those stroker plates mine ran slower as a 403 then it was as a 380 Quote
odaen Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 and i would stay away from those stroker plates mine ran slower as a 403 then it was as a 380 huh? you're not implying that with a stroker plate, your banshee was a 403, vs without a plate being a 380 are you? Quote
STINKYDELUXE Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 no my stock stroke 380 ran better than my 403 stroker with a stroker plate if your going to get a stroker port it to match or buy a cub for that stroke , dont buy a stroker plate Quote
dajogejr Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 a trail/mild drag port That's like saying you're eating a steak and chicken at the same time,... Get a dune port. You'll lose a little bottom, pick up mid and top. Shearers are drag racing pipes, no bottom, no mid, ALL TOP.... Are you also getting bigger carbs to flow more, since it'll be ported and have top end pipes? My suggestion, get a dune port, 33PWKs and a CPI, T5 or Trinity pipe... Keep in mind, are you going to need to tires, gearing, suspension...possibly longer swinger to handle all this new power. Have you taken that into consideration? I'm not trying to sound like I'm getting down on you....but way too many people end up bolting on more power, but don't look at all the other aspects of getting it to the ground properly to use it. I'm 100% certain I can smoke a 450 on a drag strip, with paddles or pavement with slicks. However, If I were to bolt on a set of knobbies to my bike and try to play with 4 strokes in trails...they eat me up. Simply put....120HP doesn't hook up well with knobbies....on any bike... All I'm getting at is make sure you're not just bolting on HP...make sure you're thinking about how to get it to the ground, AND if your suspension can handle it as well.... Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 clucth as well... after deciding if your really looking to gian all that hp your going to need a clutch that will hold all the power. along with a clutch comes harder shifting. its smart to look at a override. dave says it all the time. it doesnt make scence to drive a dragster to get groceries. just becasue your reading about everyone getting cubs dosent mean its the end all be all for you. its all about what type of riding your going to be doing. dont follow the pack just becasue of what you have read. make sure your going o need these things before you start dropping some seriouse cash into it. remember your not going to drop in one mod at a time. theres always more to it then that. porting you need carbs and pipes. stroker you need porting and suspesion and clutch. swinger you need chain. and so on.. its never one for one. !TWISTER! Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 I would go with the head shave or 2mm spacer plate. Don't go bigger than 33mm Carb You don't need a new clutch good ol' set of Toomey will do the work. Quote
