LiftdT4R Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 Was wondering if anyone here runs a simpler, dirt bike style kill switch on their shee. On the bike that I'm building I'm not going to have any lights on, and I wanted to do away with the bulky stock switch, but I still want a kill switch. On my YZ I like the switch a lot, it's small, and works really well. I know the banshee has a normally open kill switch, I'm not sure about different style bikes though. I was wondering if anyone here runs a kill switch out of a dirt bik,e or another quad, something cleaner that doesn't have all the shit for the lights on it. Thanks! Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 shouldnt be hard to do.. it would prolly work like a tether kill switch. ground one wire and hook the other to the orange terminal on the coil. i dont even have an on/off switch or a button kill switch. i just run a pro design tether kill switch. thats the only way to shut my bike off.. ClimbAnyHill Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 PM Casper. I was checking out his Bud Light Shee last weekend & love his electrical setup. Think it's a CRF kill switch. It's small, neat, cleans up the bars really well. He's still running lights. Has a blue light switch on the tank shroud. Blends in with the blue plastic  Quote
LiftdT4R Posted July 22, 2007 Author Report Posted July 22, 2007 Cool, sounds good, I'm gonna run a tether switch too, but I like to have the push button kill on the bars. I don't know for sure, but I always heard it was bad for the bike to hook up a kill switch to the coil. DOn't know why, but I rmember a few people saying that. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 i run a CR250 switch... it plugs right in... there is a wire coming from your cdi that it plugs right into. then you ground the other wire on the switches mount... you will ned to wire your lights to another switch .... mines stirpped right now or id snap some pict to show you Quote
LiftdT4R Posted July 22, 2007 Author Report Posted July 22, 2007 If I wanted to run a Lanyard in place of the key switch, could I just wire it up the same way it is now? In other words, is the lanyard a normally open(circuit broken to work) or normally closed(circuit completed to work) switch? I know the key switch is like the only normally closed switch on the bike. locogato11283 Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 i believe tethers are normally open.. once the cord is pulled it breaks the circuit. Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 i believe tethers are normally open.. once the cord is pulled it breaks the circuit. Yeaup, just like the Wave Runners, Jet Ski's! Quote
DSSA Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 I run KX Style kills in addition (and always have) on all of my Banshees. Just wire in in parallel with the tether kill---it's wired the same way. Quote
DSSA Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 i believe tethers are normally open.. once the cord is pulled it breaks the circuit. It is "normally open", which means once the cord is pulled it closes (completes) the circuit. Normal would look like: __ \ inside the switch. Pull the tether, and the circuit is completed, and grounds the ignition. Quote
