J-Madd Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 I've searched and read most all of the Drag Pipe posts and got the concensus that your motor has to be set up right for an out of frame pipe. I would assume that I would have nothing to lose by going to an out of frame pipe on my 421 Cub. I just bought some Shearer small bore OOF w/out silencers, and currently have shearer SB inframes. Ask badassbanshee479 how much stronger his bike pulled when he went from IF to OOF. If you're gonna dune the bike alot, forget about OOF. They flap like wings. Otherwise, if you're just gonna drag race, OOF is the only way to fly. Look better, easier to tune and get to your motor...and will get you a few more HP (usually 1-4). Once you start getting into big bore pipes for the bigger bikes, inframes are a pain...less and less room in there. I'll never go back to inframes unless I build a duner. Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 my bike pulled harder and reved higher with the out of frames!!! Quote
BigRed350x Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 I run the IF's simply because the OOF won't hold up to how I ride at the dunes... they would be broke off every ride. Other than that I would go with the OOF's any day. Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 the deciding factor will be what type of riding you do more.. drags or general riding?? Quote

Results will vary, my personal heavily ported 421 made .4HP more on OOF's on the dyno but the OOF's were un-silenced. Dyno runs were made within 30 minutes of each other...Jim Edited July 22, 2007 by PassionRE Quote
J-Madd Posted July 23, 2007 Author Report Posted July 23, 2007 I'm gonna use the OOFs for drag racing, and IFs if I happen to go riding. Thanks for all of the info. I'll let everyone know how they turn out. Quote
J-Madd Posted July 31, 2007 Author Report Posted July 31, 2007 Well, I ran about 1 tenth of a second better with OOFs, but I also advanced the timing from +5 to +9, and got a JJ&A axle; so I doubt the pipes made that much of a difference. Quote
