shee4speed Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 Okay it's time for a coolhead. Will my t-6 pipes be good? Was thinking of some 20 or 21's as far as domes. How much performance do these create? Thanks------Jim Quote
peak-j Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 I have 20's in mine, and that put me at 150 psi on each cylinder. Once I rebuild I will probably have to run 21's or start mixing gas. I'm at 1000ft roughly. I got the F.A.S.T racing coolhead made by NOSS. It looks great also. Putting 20's in mine I went from 125psi to 150psi. Made one hell of a difference in my opinion. I also run 280 mains in mine. Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 more compression is not always good unless your wanting to rebuild your stock crank soon, you will notice a very big improvment over stock if you raise it although. I'm running 185 at 3000 ft, and 205 ( i recall) at sea level.. All on a stock crank, wont last long though.. Eric Quote
shee4speed Posted July 14, 2007 Author Report Posted July 14, 2007 So performance wise,it's well worth it? Quote

Why will a crank not last with more pop? detonation kills a whole lot more than a boost in static compression. Brandon Quote
fastrthnu Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 depends on where you are in elevation. Its worth the price to get it. I got mine primarily for cooling, but good looks and performance dont hurt my feeling either. 21 is the safest (general) size with a decent ring seal on premium. Contact a manufacture of the brand you want and ask them. Quote
shee4speed Posted July 14, 2007 Author Report Posted July 14, 2007 The elevation at my house is 1282.8 ft.But really ride primarily at glamis/buttercup.180 ft. Also at the cinders at 7000 ft. Def.going with the noss. Quote
dlnoss Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 21cc for Glamis using premium pump gas or higher. Except that you probably don't want to change domes for different rides, you could run 18cc domes at 7000'. However, stock cranks unwelded are very, very prone to separate. I've seen a few separate on stock motors, stock compression with a slight timing bump, 4 degrees, and pipes/filters. And the jetting was spot on. I agree detonation will tear up a crank/top end/piston much faster than more compression....but given how easily stock cranks separate...more compression is not helping by any means. However, once welded...stock cranks are very strong!! Quote
Snopczynski Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 Do you want to or already run any sort of race gas? Quote

Right now I just run premium gas.Probably just stick with that for now.So it looks like the 21cc domes. So how much performance might i see? Quote
RagunCajun Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 All this talk of cranks going bad is getting me worried. I went from 21 cc to 20cc domes but i cant comment on the different. I did a lot of other mods at the time i put the 20cc domes in. Quote
Snopczynski Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 I would do a 20cc dome. Thats about 155 psi. Quote
