Ok guys here's my predicament. I have Toomy T-5's and dont know what silencers I have but I do know they are way to loud for the trail even at a lower rpm. I will take a pic of my exaust asap so I can post it, but I was wondering If anyone had a set of quieter silencers they know of or may want to sell or trade.

you need to grab a toomey hugh kit. it quiets the exhaust a decent ammount plug you get a bit more top end power. it only weigh like 2 lbs so you wont notice any changes in weight. i have one on my bike and it sounds pretty good too.

Mine are too loud w/o a helmet on my head but i never really ride w/o a helmet.

Speaking of packing, i needa check mine this weekend.

Shit.. I'm thinking of removing the packing for my next Pismo Beach trip just to give it a bigger roaring sound! I heard it doesn't affect performance, but that's just hear say

I could possibly see it causing the exhaust gas in the silencer to have harder time getting out because of the gas waves bouncing around inside the chamber. As opposed to being funneled down the core tube and kicked out of the chamber.

I know they're loud but can't be that bad..

Remove the endcaps for the silencers and check your packing, might need a repack!

I checked my packing and there was none inside the silencers so I repacked them. It helped greatly but it doesn't sound as cool as it used to, also the packing gave it a little more low end grunt (probabally because it has a straiter shot through the silencer.

BS...

I've ridden two bikes, before and after...and it robbed RPMs up top. Nothing else was done to the bikes, and they were jetted perfectly.

I know Toomey likes to advertise this on his site, but it's pure BS.

It will however, quiet the bike down BIG TIME...

think what you like but i OWN those pipes and that hush kit. ive done alot more than just a few before and after runs and i cant notice any power drop with the hush kit on. no iffence but if anything you probably contributed the noise reduction to a loss in power.

It's not about thinking...it's about riding the bikes back to back, same day...vs. other bikes down a 500ft (dirt) drag strip, over, and over...and over...

And against the same bikes they just raced against the day before. Same track, etc.

Whereas the 450s they raced against would get pulled on near the end of the track, say...350 to 500 feet, the 450s just hung and stayed instead of getting pulled on.

Nothing about the noise...all about the true, real world, repetitive results....

Each bike is different, and yours I'm sure is no exclusion to that rule. In my own personal experience, however, with 2, not just 1 banshee...it proved otherwise.

Even if no packing gave me a tad more power, i hate loud bikes. It is why i dont have drag pipes :)

T-5s are not that much louder without the packing and it has a better sound without...
