I am wanting to put my bike on alchohol. My motor is stock. How hard would it be to convert it over. What kind of carbs, how big? Give me the full details.

u cant put a stock motor on alky... i mean.. maybe u could.. but... i dont think it would be healthy for a stock motor... alky is used for the like.. extreme drag racers with like 14 mil stroker cheetahs and nitrous and stuff....

u can put a stock motor on alchohol. I have seen a couple of bikes with it. I am running c12 right now and i am going to get off of it. I just wanted to know what is the most common setup. Give me a starting point.

honsestly i have no idea.. the only thing i know is that for something with the carbs.. u either have to have them specially converted or buy special carbs made for alky.. and something with the reeds.. lol

You can genreally sneak by with the stock carbs by just running the biggest mains you can find. genrerally around 430s. Now this is on a stocker. If you do much else, you will need booster jets on the stock carbs to feed enough fuel. You will also need to bore your stock petcock and install a high flow filter. You NEEEED to have that stock head modded to max to get the most from the fuel. You also need more timing. PM us on the head if you need it done. Our specially it Alky.

I agree with Brandon, it can be done.

IMO you should do something about pipes and intake setup if you are going to the trouble of converting to Alky. (if not already done). If not it's kinda like putting earrings on a pig.....it's still a pig !!

I modded my stock carbs for Alky last fall.

It worked pretty good, but I had to change a few things to get there.

First I found out that I couldn't feed it enough fuel, so I had to change to a Pingel fuel valve so each carb had it's own fuel delivery.

I also drilled the fuel feed ports larger in the carbs and drilled the needle seats a little. Cut off one float in each carb. Drilled out the main jets to around .100 (drilled a few different sizes but that's where it ended up). I also changed the pilots and the needle position.

In the end, I found that the carb bowls were running out of fuel at about 250ft of WOT. I was gonna make some larger bowls (I actually started), but then Alcohol went up over $4.50/gal. and at twice the consumption of the race fuel, the $$$ didn't make sense any more.

If you got the $$ to spare, heres what you get:

-a little more hp/torque

-engine runs cooler !!!

-really bitchen burnt alky smell

-alot smaller range between tankfulls !!!!

Just my $ .02

I got those carbs around here somewhere If you are serious I can dig em up and see what size pilots.

any reason in particular you want to swicth to alky? on a stock bike your not going to gain as much power as say porting or pipes, at the cost of burning double the amount of fuel and oil for the small amount of power gained doesnt seem logical for that motor.

I guess nobody looked at my sig. I have an aftermarket head with a lot of compression, pipes, air filters, reeds, and +4 timing. When I said stock motor I meant only bolt ons. no porting or displacement increase. The reason i want to go to alcohol is more power like anybody else. I know that I need different carbs, but just was wondering what size and brand are the most common besides lectrons. Also what jets to get me close.

any carbs can run alky, you jut need to have the powerjets installed. but its kind stupid to put alky in that motor... for the small amount of power increase tha alky will give you on that motor you can get MUCH more power out of porting pipes crank ....

I get methanol for free so anything I ride from now on I'm switching over. I think even a totally stock bike I would still drill shit out and switch it over. Ha Ha!

I'd port that thing before you put it on alky. You will see a much larger gain from porting than the alky. Have you considered trying some larger domes, say a 19cc dome? Let the engine rev a little easier and less stress on the crank, and you could prob run cheaper gas.
