CRAZY-SHEE! Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 ok.. im getting close to the amount of cash i need to get banshe running. Itll be a 4mm cub. but the thing is, im going to run it on pump. Does anyone know how much horse power i can expect with it on pump? And heres the other thing I plan to be doing some compettative dragging. so my question is this... if i spend half my day just chillin and crusin the dunes, can i go back to camp, swap the 21cc domes for 18's, and run race gas in it while im draggin for the rest of the day? im kinda curios.. cause itd be awsome to see the looks on my friends faces when before they were blowing me by and now im owning them  Quote

You will get more power but not enough to own someone who was owning you before? Also, I dont think its worth the time to take apart the head to do this while at camp. I also would not want to take apart the head unless needing to do a rebuild or permanently swapping out the domes. I would suggest if you are doing serious dragging get the 18cc domes and run race gas or 50/50 depending on your needs  My .02 Quote
Washburn Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 I was thinking the same thing when I got my head about switching out the domes and it came down to it not being worth the time and energy plus when you go with smaller size domes and race fuel you wont want to go back. Then theres the changing O Rings everytime witch I would do just to be safe and that 20 bucks. I really dont think its worth it. Just pick one and stick with it. Either way get your crank welded for the added strength. Its well worth it. Quote
CRAZY-SHEE! Posted May 19, 2007 Author Report Posted May 19, 2007 it is well worth my time and effort and the moeny. Before each race, we get a 20 minute prep perioid, which will be plenty of time for me. And i wanna run it on pump when im not racing cause it doesnt seem worth the moeny of 8 bucks a gallon to just screw around. There is often big money and bets placed at the races i go to, so it is very well worth it. I was just wondering if i COULD do it. Quote

It would be best to just pick one and stick with it, atleast until you switch to alky BTW; where at in Arizona are you racing at where people put money on races. Just wondering. Quote

Why not just set it up to run on race gas to start out with. The dome changing hassle isn't worth your time vs. the cash you save by not buying race gas (assuming your time is worth more than a couple bucks an hour). Quote
CRAZY-SHEE! Posted May 19, 2007 Author Report Posted May 19, 2007 cause im not interested in running race gas while playing around and not winning money. race gas is 55 bucks for 5 gallons here :/ Quote

blowit Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 cause im not interested in running race gas while playing around and not winning money. race gas is 55 bucks for 5 gallons here :/ At those prices, I would either stick with pump fuels, try some alky, or custom blend some fuel to raise the octane of your pump fuels. There are always other options but as stated, switching thing around all the time is not really worth the small gain would get from it. Brandon Quote

Your nuts, it takes at least an hour to swap head domes and refill the cooling system. Not to mention you have to make sure all the o-rings seated and I wouldn't reuse a o-ring set more than twice. You still have to drain the gas and put in race gas. Its not well worth your times. Do it right the first time, or dont do it at all. Quote

Theres a sandy place called the river bottom where all the locals go, its probably there. Quote

87sheerips Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 You could use some RTV to make sure those o-rings are good to. That would ensure a seal especially since youll be changing it often. Sounds like a pain to me, but to each his own i guess!! Quote
