maggot Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 Hey guys I've got a 07 Banshee still stock standard but I need some advice on what the best "bolt-on" mods I can do to my Shee cause I dont want to mess with the motor at this point. So if there is anyone that can list me the mods I can do that'll give the best performance I would really appreciate it. Oh and a nother thing I do a lot of track riding is it best to go 1 tooth down or not? :woot: Quote
bigboybanshee Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 Adjustable timing plate Aftermarket head Lightened flywheel What size tires do you run, and what is your gearing now? Quote
dajogejr Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 I would replace the stock pipes first and foremost. Out of all the bolt on mods, you will get the single biggest performance increase from pipes alone. Next...since you said MX...or a track, you'll need better tires. Factory tires don't hook up for squat on a stocker, they sure don't hook up on a modded bike. Quote

dawarriorman Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 Pipes, then shocks and a-arms. Suspension makes a HUGE difference. Especially on a MX track. If you can take the turns without slowing down as much (braking bumps), and can fly through the whoops faster, you'll shave a bunch of time off your laps. Quote
kawiking Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 if you want you can always have your head shaved down, that will save you about $150 bucks,k@n's ,pipes(fmf's or toomeys),tors, timing plate, shaved fly wheel (lets it rev faster) if your a pretty big boy it could hurt you--250 ish or more... I don't buy the light flywheel/heavy rider. On my bone stock motor (96) I had pods, T5s, boysen reeds and +4 timing. The lightened flywheel made a big difference on how mine ran. It was better in trails, easier to keep on the pipe...and it drag raced on dirt and in sand just fine. I've also read it takes away from holeshot inertia. While this might be true on a big single cylinder or a 4 stroke single, I weigh 250....it worked awesome on my bike... I'd recommend it to anyone... Also...if he's gonna MX....all that power does nothing without tire/gearing and suspension updates... Quote

I tend to agree with dajogejr on this one. Who cares if the revs fall off faster, they are only going to fall off when you let off the gas. And the banshee doesn't exactly have a ton of engine braking anyways. On a 4 stroke then sure, keep the heavy flywheel, not on a banshee though. Course I also think going for low-end power in trails/mx is stupid too. Who cares if its all top end or bottom end? The width of the powerband and how easy it comes on makes more difference than where that power is. Theres a better chance of higher horsepower at higher rpms (since it takes more torque at lower rpms to get the same hp). Quote

firstbanshee Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 First off welcome to the HQ.. Go with the exhaust and better air intake, i.e. filter air box elimination. Faster air/fuel goes in and expelled through the exhaust the better. Watch the jetting and tune accordingly and you'll be fine. Quote
CRAZY-SHEE! Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 suspension id have first on my list.. i didnt on the bike im building now... big mistake... Quote
