bansheeryder21 Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 I am putting my motor back together and need to know a couple of things. -what should the gap be on the piston rings? They are 66.5mm! -what is the torque on the cylinders? -what is the torque pattern on the noss head? I can't remember. I know it's something like 10, 15, and then 25in/lbs. Let me know the exact! Thanks! Quote
bansheeryder21 Posted April 6, 2007 Author Report Posted April 6, 2007 my ring gap is .011. is that good? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 (edited) i want to say its like .004 per inch of bore but i cant remember if thats right...... read the papers that came with your pistons it should explain it...i know that weisco 64mm bore calls for .010-.012 so i went with .011.. i dont feel like going to get my clymers to tel you the pattern... but that sounds right ... just tighten them a little each with the criss cross pattern and then torque to right spec and it will be fine... 64xracer Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 Take 66.5 times .03937...that is 2.618. Then take 2.618 times .004 and that is how much ring gap you should have .01047. .011 is fine....run it!!! Quote
Ruko Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 I think you meant 25 ft/lbs... 25 in/lbs is only about finger tight. I don't know about Noss heads but the torque for stock heads is 20 ft/lbs. Also it's better to be a little big on the ring gap, I set mine at 18-20... 12 is about the min. It's not really gona make any difference being a little bigger but if it's too tight you could end up with major problems. I've found it's best to use some sand paper over a small file instead of just a file when setting your ring gap. A file by itself can leave a burr on the edge of the ring end. Quote
