You could try some PB blaster. I just replaced my carrier bearings and removing the axle was no fun at all. My rear sproket threads were corroded (sp?) with dirt and rust and shit like. I got mine off by taking the carrier out out the swing arm stood the axle up hit the rear sproket a few times with a rubber mallot. It moved just a bit and then stoped so I sprayed some pb blaster in the little space that had moved so the pb blaster could work its way down into the rear sproket hub thread things and let it sit over night. Then I went out in the morning and beat it with the rubber mallot. I hit sproket hub and turned the axle 1/4 turn hit it again and so on. Eventually It kinda walked its self off over a while. This is the way I got mine off some might say that it is not good to hit the rear sproket that hard because it might bend but I had a extra sproket just incase but the one that was on the hub was not bent at all. Hope this helps and sorry for the long post.Good luck

Find someone with a hydraulic press. I bent a sprocked hub pounding the absolute shit out of it with a 10 lb sledge hammer and it still would not move.

so the axle wont come out of the carrier? hmm, thats a problem.. id say just pound on it until it comes out, but if you wanna save it try soaking it first. youll prolly have to pull the carrier off the swingarm to do it..

Exactly what he said. Remove the carrier from the swinger and put that bitch in a 12 ton hydraulic press, it'll come out.

no hubs are off and powdercoated waiting to go back on!

Axle is out of the swingarm which is also powdercoated and waiting for the axle!

I tried the soaking it with rust loosener (some mental german stuff i use on my Pajero Evo that always gets the job done) and walloping it with the deadblow and turning it but it wasnt for doing jack!

I will go and see him on tuesday and see if he has had any success if not i will try the press trick!

Just so i can let my wife know early is there a fair chance at least one of the components is gonna need replaced? (obviously the bearings!)

Or are they just a bitch that once apart are generally ok?

Thanks for all the replies

This rebuild is almost over...

Did you try Heat? Not a propane torch, you can try it but it just won't get anything really hot enough. Go to Home Depot and buy one of their $45 Oxy Acet setups. I use the hell out of mine. I have a full stand Oxy Acetalye setup and I never end up using cause the little one is so much quicker to grab.

he is in england... i dont think they have home depot  .... so your sproket hub is off already? from what i read the firs time you couldnt get that off? did i read it wrong and you just cant get the axle out of the carrier?

I say try mouse's milk penetrating oil the shit is magic let it soak over night and you'll be surprised I have used it on wing bolts we couldn't get to move with a 9x rivet gun ( a minny jack hammer), after soaking it, it came right out with a hammer and punch good luck to ya, shit like that is just a flat out pain in the ass

yeah bansh-eman is right no home depot but we have b&q which basically the same shit.

Have tried mapp gas on it myself and the guy at the garage tried the oxy-acetalene on it.

I maybe got the wrong end of the stick. its the wheel hubs that are off and the sprocket hub that is stuck, i guess the axle carrier is probably stuck but first thing is the bleeding sprocket jobby.

He said he was gonna soak it in something so its probably something like that milk stuff. If not when i get it back i will try what you have said.

Its true about stuff like this, the swingarm bearings were a bitch but i saw a post and tried one guys solution and bingo! so i had a bit of a search for this and didnt get much back but for folk in the future all the info is here.

I will let you know on tuesday how it goes, the weather is nice here so i cant wait for it to be finished!!!

spent the day fixing my wifes quad, i am that bored!! hahah

thanks again
