Shee-Male Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 do the bolt on shit, K&N, exhaust, etc., drive it & enjoy it. Quote
!TWISTER! Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 (edited) 5,3L Vortex, nice engine, make this beauty straight pipe =) Edited April 6, 2007 by !TWISTER! Quote
Mullet Man Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 JBA, Hooker, Gibson maybe. all good headers. K&N should have an intake kit for it. headers, catback and cold air intake will all help improve gas mileage, as well as a slight bump in performance. if you get rid of your catalytic converters, you will throw diagnostic codes tho, so you might need some O2 simulators for the rear (if you delete the cats and if they are available for your truck), or a tune to delete the rear sensor parameters from the PCM. its going to add up in price for everything please dont put glass packs or straight pipes on it LOL i dont know why people think that shit sounds good on their trucks Quote
smokin 2 stroke Posted April 6, 2007 Author Report Posted April 6, 2007 yes im getting catback(super40s) and some high flow cats. throttle bodies. who makes bigger throttle bodies Quote
Mullet Man Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 yes im getting catback(super40s) and some high flow cats. throttle bodies. who makes bigger throttle bodies dont touch the throttle body (only one anyway). it is money wasted, like buying a boost bottle. no need to upgrade it! stick to intake and exhaust 1st. and on those websites posted by "okbeast", read read read about the whats what and whos who. dont just start buying stuff. kaotik1 Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 For sure what Fox Forma and Mullet man said, read........ The tune will be straight up best bang for the dollar, it's about 250 bucks and feel it right from go. Down side to the tune is add you get more mods, like headers, exhaust, and intakes you will need to change a few trim settings, most good tuners will give you one freebie. Choose parts wisely or you will be buying twice, and then trying to sell junk that everyone knows is junk. Quote
smokin 2 stroke Posted April 7, 2007 Author Report Posted April 7, 2007 this what im thinking bout getting http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.a...mp;autoview=sku Quote
okbeast Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Don't wanna be hateful but don't waste your money on that^^. I'm gonna give you a list of what I'd do from the 3 years of reading I've done on this motor. These are just my opinions so take them how you want but I'm not someone that has to have the name brand shit. I buy what works no matter the name or how much it cost. For intake, either S&B or Volant. These 2 systems are sealed box systems, meaning they don't pull as much of the hot air from the engine compartment in. Exhaust: Something straight through: Magnaflow, Borla, etc. Headers: Pacesetter, Thorley...and read through those sites for some others. Remember if you get longtubes (gives you the best performance) you will have to re-do your exhaust from the headers back. As for the rear 02 sensors throwing codes you can have that turned off with the tune so you don't have to waste money on 02 simulators. Tune: Don't waste your money on a handheld programmer, they're shit. Custom tune is THE best bang for your buck bottom line. I recommend Charlie Wheatley, Wester's, or Nelson's. As for the comment on when you get bolt-on mods having to have a re-tune, that is incorrect. The motor will make the proper adjustment for airflow using it's own system. If you got any ?'s feel free to holler at me I love this shit but hate seeing people waste their money on stupid mods. Quote
trueraiderfan Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Throw some D'S ON THAT BITCH hehe and exhaust and above metiond bolt on's. I like a truck with a nice set of 20 or 22's ( I know they hurt performance wise) that has a leveling kit on it and makes it looks nice and clean. not all lowerd down and shit just nice and level. tint windows nice lil system and good to go! Oh and of course a super charger! Quote
smokin 2 stroke Posted April 7, 2007 Author Report Posted April 7, 2007 okbeast thanks alot when i get some of my projects done i will be pming u alot lol. trueraiderfan i go performance over looks first. but my truck id getting lowerd that why i bought a single cab short bed. im not goin gto have it draggin but something that looks really simple and clean and mean. With a lift and proper tooling im thinking like 30 minutes total. plus it rides a lot nicer. Quote
