hollisatp Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 So I have recently cracked my case which has brought me to take apart my engine, something I havent even gotten close to on a banshee before, but thank god for BHQ and my clymers. It has never been rebuilt and is totally stock. I know that this is a great time to do a couple of mods and rebuilds to spruce her up a bit. I am going to get my crank welded and trued for sure and maybe going with another aftermarket piston? Any suggestions of what could be done or should be done while I have it opened up? Quote
yamaha04 Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 well i would highly suggest egtting some bolt on stuff like reeds. big difference in overall power. pipes, another big improvment. could get it ported if you wanted to but if you al stock give the reeds and pipes a try you wont be disapointed. Bansh-eman Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 what kind of power you looking to gian? also what kind of riding? and most important... whats your budget? Quote
hollisatp Posted April 4, 2007 Author Report Posted April 4, 2007 (edited) Ok I havent found out how to get my mods to post on the page so Ill put them in here.. The engine is stock, PC platinum pipes, vforce reeds, 300 mains, k'n filter with top off, 15 tooth sprocket, high flow impeller, in line cooler, +4 timing plate. These are all my bolt ons... I could probably afford 200 tops or close to it, but if it is something that should be done while I have it open then I can make exceptions, I can always justify spending on this.... Big problem!! lol Oh yeah, I like trail riding but want to do some dune riding.. I dont want to loose any dependability. Edited April 4, 2007 by hollisatp Quote
yamaha04 Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 proabably port work would be your next thing to do i guess. maybe some 28mm carbs. to get your mods go to MY CONTROLS, then edit signature on the left hant coloum down near the bottom then type them in the space provied and hit submit Quote
hollisatp Posted April 4, 2007 Author Report Posted April 4, 2007 hey yamaha04, ported cages? How do you port you reed cage? Quote
yamaha04 Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 (edited) hey yamaha04, ported cages? How do you port you reed cage? i ment porting you cyilinders. do a sreach on here and you will find all kinds of info. um porting cages you must be talking about what i have in my list of mods. i ported my stock reeds cages and matched them to my boyseen reeds. people do that to save alittle money. all it does is just alowe alittle more flow then stock. you said you have vforce reeds so you dont have to port them they already flow much beter then stock aparently. so yeah do a search on PORTING and you will find lots of cool stuff to read about making large amounts of power. oh yeah you could free up some power just by switching to some 20inch non mud tires Edited April 5, 2007 by yamaha04 Quote
mpbanshee Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 $200 budget... 1. Cut stock head .030" 2. Have flywheel lightened 3. True and weld crank 4. Have stock carbs bored 5. Ditch the box and get pods (if you avoid water) Quote
jbooker82 Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I would get the cylinders ported. The machine is already appart, and no better time to do it if your going to be doing a top end. You can always pull the head later and have it shaved or put on a cool head. Some other mods you might consider. Modded Shift star and Shift shaft mods from jeff. They make shifting much easier.
