lildeezul Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 I am a drag racer, and i drag race a blaster. I Was wondering if theres a place that can convert my Munkini TMX 38mm carb (cheapest) to run on methanol. also should i run a bigger petcock, or no petcock, i was thinking of runing the banshee petcock. also do i put regular jet sizes in ther, and use your power jets, or do i run bigger jets, right now im running a 360, what jet size should i run if i use alky, a 700????. thanks. also how do i go about purging my carb, i heard u run gas but how can i run gas in my carb if it set up for methenol. also what should my compression ratio be, im runing 150 psi right now, but as of this monday comming up im going to send it of to run 200 or so PSI, also its a liquid cooled head Quote

No you dont run regular jets, you have to drill the jets out with a drill bit to run alky. Yes you should run a bigger petcock, pingle makes a real nice one. You also have to drill the vent bigger on the gas cap so it can let the tank flow more. To purge your bike, all you have to do is pull the fuel line off the carb, hook a bottle up to the carb with some pre mix gas and start the bike. Run it till it gets real boggey and barely wants to run. then you know you have gas in your carb and engine, not alky. Also dont forget to plug the vent line and the pipe when not in use so moister does not get into the alky. I shoot for about 175psi of compression on alky, you can also run a bunch of timing. Quote
lildeezul Posted March 17, 2007 Author Report Posted March 17, 2007 yeah thanks for the info, i go for 175, and im thinking about 6 or 7 degrees advance. but also i have a 360 main jet in there now, what size drill bit do i need, and dont i need to use some power jets? also i know the banshee petcock is bigger, and it will fit, ill think ill use a banshee petcock, IF anyone has one let me know. oh yaeh, who is jeff at fast, is there a link??? bonbon Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 oh yaeh, who is jeff at fast, is there a link??? www.farmandsandtoys.com I think he is FASTOYS on here as well. There is a banner too that should pop up on you at some point on the forum. Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 jeff is fastoys on here, or farmandsandtoys.com he will know what drill bit to use, and he will install the power jets for ya. Quote

Mains can be drilled anywhere from .115 to .130....you're going to be running twice as much alky through the bike as you were gas. You'll also want a power jet installed...it adds more fuel from 1/2 throttle and up! Quote
lildeezul Posted March 20, 2007 Author Report Posted March 20, 2007 kwl, cpcustoms does it for 35 bucks, to covert it, and another 35 to bore it to a 40mm. what size drill bits is a .115 ? 1/8? Quote

badassbanshee479 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 you need to go get a drill index that has bits that are in the .118-.130 sizes. harbor freight has one. You have to drill right through the main and up through the dump tube. dont try using a drill bit that is close to the size you need. get the right stuff! there are also a couple other things that need to be done to the carb. lildeezul Posted March 20, 2007 Author Report Posted March 20, 2007 ok this is wat i got so far. cpcustoms bore it to a 40mm, ( from a 38mm), convert it to methanol, istall a power jet, drill me my jets, install a bigger petcock, and that it right??? Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 dont forget to drill the vent on the gas cap as big as you can, and take the check ball out if it has one like the banshee Quote
Crazy05 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 I thought you needed to open the jets 50% bigger? Example: if you jet is a 100 you need a 150. Also, dont you have to open the pilot also and what about the needle? Quote
dajogejr Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Twice as much fuel than a gas motor.... The jet sizes don't work out that way...number to number, that's why you drill them out. You're not going to be able to buy a big enough jet. The good thing is, once you find the correct size, you pretty much tune in alky with the powerjet. I'm using Dave Moore's powerjet in my new 10 mil build, I've heard nothing but good things about them. Also...you're going to have to get into a purge routine on your bike. After a weekend of riding, you have to run gas/oil through the motor to flush out the alky, since alky attracts moisture and can rust and/or corrode the internals of your motor.... Quote
lildeezul Posted March 21, 2007 Author Report Posted March 21, 2007 u know theres a a 720 main jet, and thats twice as big as what i got now.!!!! if u go to mukini website, theres jets ranges from like 200-800 i think the 720 will be enought, so i would have to drill Quote
