chris1992 Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 ok i been gatherng info like the guys told me to do and the only thing i cant seem to find is what i have to do to the tranny and clutch when i buy a stock crank 400cc cub motor. What do i have to do to it? and something about a lock clutch.... did a search for it and nothing showed up. So what i gotta do? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 let me start off by saying its not that you "have" to do it but it kind doesnt make sence not to to the tranny and lockup... when you start adding power your banshee will start having issues shifting... the banshee tranny is 20 years old and was build on the grounds of a 35hp bike.... once you start doubling or trippleing your hp your putting a load on your motor and tranny that was un for seen when it was designed... so by getting a dunable override they cut the gears on the tranny and add some springs to assist you in shifting without the clutch at wide open throttle and not worry about bending your shift forks...theres a little more work to it then just the two lited but thats the jist of it... assuming you have seen a pict of a lockup??? if not tak a look at one and read this and youll understand... it has weights on it that open up with centrifugal force... they "lock" all your power to the clutch not allowing all the extra power to "slip" there for reducing wear on your clutch and gaingin power that would normally be lost to the clutch not handleing the extra power... chris1992 Posted March 17, 2007 Author Report Posted March 17, 2007 which lockup clutch do you recommend? and as for this tranny operation.. is there a name to this thing? like if i walked into a store with my tranny and asked them to do it to it i would saY " I NEED THIS TRANNY ______" whats it called? how much $ and who does it. ( i think i read that a guy named jeff at fast or something like that would do it) Quote

Bansh-eman Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 you cant take your tranny to any shop and have it done... theres a few guys around the country who do it and do it well... its a duneable over ride... there is also a nomal override but the differance is the duneabl you can shitf up AND down without the clutch where the normal you can only shift up ... if you try to down shift you will bend your shift forks... i think everyone will agree that directdrive makes the best lockup .. there are a few knockoffs but spend a few extra bucks and get the goods the first time... Leadfoot350 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 ok this guy is building a stock stroke 68 bore cub right???? You dont need any of that stuff. All you need is the street bike fibers. I can give you the part number from yamaha and some strong springs. Nate found some stronger springs thant the toomeys and that would be great. Why are you guys telling this guy to get all this exspensive stuff. If your going to spend any more money you should get a 10mm crank and some 68 bore cubs. Even with that you can get away with the clutch I talked about. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 he is looking over some other options... not going with this setup for sure... you got to read more into some of his other posted and you will see why... he has many posts asking bout cubs then bb cheethas... so to complie everything into one yes he would need all that if he went with the setup he has been preading out over 6 or 7 differant posts Quote
