So i took my shee out for its first dune ride..it was awesome until i started doing some hill climbs. It would make a clanking noise and jump my ass end around. After further inspection we noticed that my chain guide or roller on the top closest to the motor was wasted i think its plastic. We tightend chain but it still did it. Is this a common problem or an easy fix. Any input would be great. Thanks.

yes they are plastic. how old is the quad? if there wore out that can be a prolem but its easy to fix you can get a new set of chain guides pretty cheap. if one is wore out i would check he rest and check out you chain and sprockets while your at it might be time to get new ones and maybe a case saver too

Its brand new 06. My buddy said he could see sparks when it made the noise.

that doesnt explain your ass end jumping around. are your axle nuts tight? is the carrier loose at all? how loose is the chain? generally about 2 inches of up and down slack in the middle is about right. is your rear sprocket worn at all? its very possible that your chain was loose enough for you to jump teeth on the rear sprocket. you need to inspect all that and make sure its ok...

first when you put weight or push down the bike,. the chain gets tighter. It was probly to tight in the first place and thats why the roller broke. I leave 3/8" of play in mine while sitting on it. second if your axle nuts come lose all the time take them off clean the threads and put some red thread locker on them then tighten them back down. I did that on my chain sprockets and axle nuts and they have lever come loose since.

Yeah, I would lift the quad up and see if there is any play in the axle, but if there were sparks you need to figure out what is wrong. Even if it is only the chain being too loose...................

THANKS FOR THE QUICK RESPONSE. WHEN IM SITTING ON MY BIKE THE CHAIN IS KINDOF TIGHT WHEN IM NOT IT HAS ABOUT AN INCH OF PLAY. THIS WAS THE FIRST REAL WORK OUT I HAD ON THIS BIKE. I FIGURED THE CHAIN STRETCHED AND WAS SKIPPING TEETH THATS WHY IT FELT LIKE IT WAS JUMPING AROUND SO I TIGHTEND IT UP A BIT. SOUNDS LIKE I MAY BE WRONG THOUGH. MABEY IT WAS TO TIGHT TO BEGIN WITH. SO IS IT OKAY TO RUN IT WITHOUT THE ROLLER?

IVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT MY CHAIN WAS TOO TIGHT. THE SUSPENSION IS WAY SOFTER THAN MY 400EX. WHEN I PUT WIEGHT ON MY SHEE THE CHAIN HAD NO PLAY. I GUESS I NEED TO DIAL IN MY SUSPENSION AND GO FROM THERE. IM TAKING MY SHEE TO CASCADE INNOVATIONS IN A FEW WEEKS TO GET "PIMPED" SO ILL ASK MORE Q'S WHEN IM THERE. AFTER ALL THIS IS MY FIRST BANSHEE WHAT BETTER WAY TO LEARN ABOUT IT THAN TO BREAK IT AND FIX IT...NOBODY SAID THIS WAS A CHEAP ADDICTION!!!!
