I have Chain Wax as well as PJ1 Blue Label but I'd think these would tend to attract sand. Do you think Tri-flow would be a good call? Anything better? Soon to be Glamis bound... Thanks, Jay. FireHead Posted January 31, 2007 Report Share Posted January 31, 2007 I use Maxima Gold Spray Wax. IMO it's best to use a wax when you're in the sand as it clumps and falls off durung use. RNBRAD Posted January 31, 2007 Report Share Posted January 31, 2007 Get all the (heavy) oil off your chain or as much as you can. Just use wd-40 for chain lube with sand. It does not allow sand to stick to the chain at all. I can't stand that annoying crunch/grit sound when sand is all caked to the chain and sprockets. Like Firehead says, I used Maxima chain wax for years and it does clump up and then slings to every piece of your banshee where it's a PITA to clean. Joe and Dave at Fullerton Sand Sports have been riding the dunes for years, and they don't use any type of lube. I have found that the orings get more damaged if you put all that crap on, ride around in the sand, and don't clean it enough. I don't know about you guys, buy I don't spend an hour with a pressure washer on my chain. This is how I do it... Wash the crap out of my ride... Dry off... BigRed350x Posted February 4, 2007 Report Share Posted February 4, 2007 I do the WD-40 stuff on all my chains and I pretty much only ride sand any more. Works good. I put my rear end up on a gas can at the end of the day and clean my chain off with a soft synthetic brush then re-apply WD-40 before I usually start fixin dinner and if I go for a night ride I do the same thing the next morning before I take off. - Jared Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
