kubiac3 Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Im putting a 13 tooth front sprocket on this week sometime, wondering what size rear everyone suggests. Should I just keep stock 42? I want more low end, but I dont want to make my low gears useless. First is almost useless to me right now, other then for putting around. I wouldnt mind using 2nd gear as my starting gear, I never reach 6th gear. Thanks. Also are RK chains anygood? Or should I stick with DID. Does anyone make a chain that isnt gold! I hate gold. Seems the only good chains I see on the net and at local shops are gold. Quote

Seems the only good chains I see on the net and at local shops are gold. well stock isnt 42... its 41... i think on the 96's it was 42 but 99% of them are 41's.... i used a DID and its great streched first ride out and it was good.. i havent even tightened it yet... but ill endup selling it here shortly casue it wont fit my new swingr...ill endup going with EK that jeff sells once i get the rest of my stuff finished up Quote

kubiac3 Posted January 18, 2007 Author Report Posted January 18, 2007 I guess the only question i have left is would 13/41 be the same as 14/42? If not, would 13/41 give more low end then a 14/42? If so then im going with that. Now I just have to find a chain that isnt gold! Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 i good rule of thumb is for every tooth you change on the front its in between 2.5 and 3 theeth in the opposite direction on the rear... the math is closer to 3 teeth Quote
grunt Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 Math time haha 41/13=3.15 42/14=3 the higher the number the more low end your going too have if you have to ratios that are really close you should go with the one with the bigger front thooth. Quote
