banshee_dlo_14 Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 I'm new to the draggin scene and will probably be asking a lot of questions so please bear with me! Now I'm not looking to compete in sanctioned races or anything serious like that(just local fairs and for pure speed) but I was curious on how much cash most of you have in your quads set up for serious racing? bigboybanshee Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 ^^^That's really the honest truth. I've made out like a bandit since my banshee only cost me 500 bucks to get...so my overall tally on the builds isn't too incredibly high. After this current project, I'm guessing I probably spent around 6-7,000 just on going from trail banshee to drag bike, and it's no where near what it could be. Quote
phx450 Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 HA! Prepared to spend a ton of money! Little kids on Daddy's bike will beat you. Then you spend more money. Next you brake something then you spend more money on the upgrade. Next your friend will beat you then you spend more money to upgrade Next you will think you are darn fast, this will last for about one month until you get whooped again by Little Johny on Dads bike. Repeat process over the next couple years/Months. Then you lose heart, sell your banshee and cry about how much money you wasted! If you dont lose heart you will have a ton of fun/tears when building these bikes to drag! It is great fun! Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 the more you spend the faster you can go. its not uncommon to have 4 grand in a motor alone and still get your ass beat pretty easily. for 2 grand you can get about 90 hp and be able to whoop all your friends blasters and 400ex's tho and mildy built banshees. That's no shit either...I was blown away from hearing how much some of these hardcore drag racers spend on their bikes. A lot of them have 5 grand in the chassis, paint and plastics, if not more...and then you have the engine Quote

Cant you do that with a stock banshee motor with stock pipes?I would beat a 400ex that had a curtis sparks,K&N POD filters, and I dont know what else but man I would spank that thing. And Blasters Let me not even get into that...... jonlorio Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 for a nice big strong running twin motor, you can spend over 10grand just for the motor... Quote
jstdrag Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 for a nice big strong running twin motor, you can spend over 10grand just for the motor... jons right and even well over that Quote
jonlorio Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 jons right and even well over that not to mention the chassis, the wheels/tires, the hardware it takes to get it all together, the 100 trips to ACE and home depot to build the bike, the countless hrs in the shop, the nitrous setup, the paint, the chrome, the polishing, the tuning, the knowledge to make it all work together... it will all add up to one helluva bill. bansheeryder_69 Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 (edited) don't forget things like colored powerbands and chrome boost bottles thats an easy $500 there :yelrotflmao: Edited January 20, 2007 by bansheeryder_69 Quote
