sandmouse Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 awesome info guys. i was riding this early spring and the rubber grommetts on the left side pipe broke which allowed my pipe to lay into my fender. melted it a little and yes i still have all my fenders. i dont have the nads to cut them. anyway while i was riding i noticed the pipe laying on the plastic and i reached down and pulled it closer to the motor. when i let go i noticed my finger tips on my gloves were melted to the pipe. i've just been riding it and not worrying about it but it looks like $hit and i want it gone. i didnt burn my fingers due to my occupation. i burn them all the time. anyway guys thanks for the info. Blue Duece Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 "easy off" oven cleaner is the shit.........wipes off with a soft rag Quote
differentstrokes Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 Go to walmart and look in the kitchen cleaner section where the polish for silverware and pots and pans is, they've got a rust remover in a small bottle for $4 or 5 dollars. It works on plated pots and pans so I know it will work on pipes. As far as the oven cleaner goes, it won't harm your pipes any, hobbyists that work with plastic figurines use it to remove paint and it doesn't even burn plastic. Quote
miner Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 be carefull with that oven cleaner around any polished or anodized parts!!!!!!!!!!!back in the day i thought it would be a good idea to use it to clean my yz100 and it stripped the gold anodizing off of the wheels :verymad: Quote
