CadillacBanshee Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 I was riding up olds and the clutch lever was really loose on the way down. I tightened it up and gave it another run and the same thing happened again but this time i couldnt adjust it. the cluth was fully engaged. I bought a new clutch to change it out and when i was taking it all apart and the clutch was fine. The problem is the mechanism that actuates the clutch. I was able to remove the center part of the clutch that looks like a rod with tread on one side and a ball on the other and it looked kind of chewed up like it some thing was peeled off. When actuating the clutch arm it felt like it was getting stuck throught the movement. What do i do next? Quote
fast500#12 Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 do you hold in your clutch coming down hills? if so the ball can friction weld to the shaft. have you lubed your cable lately? do the arrow on the clutch arm and the engine case line up? could be a number of things. Quote
CadillacBanshee Posted January 1, 2007 Author Report Posted January 1, 2007 do you hold in your clutch coming down hills? if so the ball can friction weld to the shaft. have you lubed your cable lately? do the arrow on the clutch arm and the engine case line up? could be a number of things. coming down hill i put it in neutral and roll it down. The cable is fine and was removed when i took the clutch apart. I just downloaded the service manual and it looks like the ball did get welded to the shaft that goes to the clutch. The damage was done going up hill. Quote
Karzy5150 Posted January 1, 2007 Report Posted January 1, 2007 sounds like a typical banshee problem to me the same thing has happened to mine and i ended up putting a new clutch arm in my bike and a new rode and ball. To fix the problem from doing it again i put the pancake bearing in it and i havent had any problems since. Quote

Bansh-eman Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 no but you have to take off the clutch cover and your clutch... the ball and rod are behind the adjuster on there and the clutch arm will pop out the top of the case... Quote
