floydfan_90 Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 Any one ever sand and polished their stock cylinders(jug Quote
korndawg Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 A die grinder, or a dremel with those scotch brite wheels are your best friend when you start sanding on stuff like this with tight spaces. It sure beats the hell out of sanding by hand. Quote

RNBRAD Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 Here's what you need. Mainly the diegrinder and roloc discs, buffing wheels and rouge. There's other ways to skin a cat, but I'd hate to try it with some fingernail cutters. Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 Heresmine  RNBRAD polished these actually, his old cylinders... Quote
Malott 1 Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 I found the best way is to pay someone. The best $75 dollars I think I ever spent. Quote

bigboybanshee Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 I did my stock cylinders by hand last year since I didn't have any access to air tools...man it was a bitch! I think I spent a total of 15-20 hours on them and they still aren't perfect. I started polishing my cubs this year and ended up having them sent off to cascade to finish the job...I'll still tackle the little jobs but anything with as many nooks and crannys as the cylinders do, it's worth it to me to pay someone else, LOL I think I started off with 220 grit, then went to 400, 600, 800, 1000, then hit it with tripoli....they turned out nice, but nowhere near perfect  Quote
hondafreak08 Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 does anyone know if you can polish a cylinder on a cr 125 Quote

Malott 1 Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 Looks like glass  where'd you have them done? Good deal!! There is a guy right outside of Independence MO. He does all kinds of polishing in a shop right at his house. He does work for people all over but the only problem is he won't ship anything. He does alot of restoration on old trim off cars plus wheels. If it can be polished he can do it. Quote
RNBRAD Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 does anyone know if you can polish a cylinder on a cr 125 If it's aluminum, it can be polished. Quote
trex banshee Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 I done mine by hand also and like bigboy they are far from perfect. I couldn't imagine doing stock cylinders the trex were alot easier to do, not a whole lot of small spots. Quote
