cdi relocation

for those of you looking to move your cdi away from the rear of the bike not to worry bout it having your wires melted or what ever... GB Racing on everything2stroke.com sells a plate with mounting holes for your cdi to go under your seat and tank... how ever they dont have one for a ims tank yet just stock..

i know some of you want to move your cdis but dont want to cut the stock brace and reweld it...

I'm working on a frame right now and I moved it up behind the radiator, down kinda by where the TORS junk used to be. Works good and if you are smart in routing the wires will have no problem with anything melting on the pipes up in front.

That bracket isnt really that hard to cut and move if you have access to a welder.

Good find though! Would be nice to have a bolt-on bracket in some cases.

You don't want it too close to the coil if you're running a Nology and Dyna setup. I'm thinking of moving mine...but, I have mine cleaned up to the point it's not a big deal.

Under the seat is where me fuel pump is gonna go...:)

ill be running nology and dyna so im just cutting my stock mounts and welding it under the plastics infront of the radiator... wonder why they dont shield the dynas and nologys s you dont have to worry about interferance?

correction to the loctation of the mounting... when the plate is installed and the cdi and regulator are mounted ,they sit under your stem infront of your tank... not under the seat...

they havent tried it with a ims tank so im going to ask them to let me know once they try one out... i think it will fit fne becasue the ims doesnt look like it would get in the way where the cdi is located but i guess we will see..

if you do run the Dyna and the nology just make sure you run a Resistor plug. that is what I have to do and it works fine. My Dyna box is less than an inch from my coil and it sits directly over my plugs almost. I mistakenly installed a regular plug and the bike would not run for crap but with the Resistor plugs it runs fine.

Now that is very good info to know. I run resistor plugs anyways. Dyna says run resistor, Nology says run non with their hotwires..

Well...the way I look at it is this. The coil is cheaper to replace than the Dyna...so, I'll do what they say. ran BR8ES on gas all year....no issues whatsoever....!

Thanks Lobo...

I'd love to see one in person...and perhaps try it. Since I live in St. Clair Shores...would you like to meet up somewhere? I'm a few months away from having my frame cut and PC'd...but, I'd like to take a look at this.

Also...I'm wondering if it would get in the way of the air filters and Shearer inframes. I'd like to use that to mount my fuel pump and CDI if possible...

Your more then welcome to see one in person anytime...I'm often at 15 and Little Mack just let me know whens best for you...

There should be no clearence issue with pipes or airfilters....The bracket mounts everything between the stem and the gas tank...

i have one of these mounts... works great... it fits awesome and the quality is top notch...

i run a dyna CDI and i've never had a problem at all.... b8egv plus with my DYNA on the GB plate.... no problems what so ever...

it's a deal for the price... and looks way nicer than cutting your old mount off and rewelding it up front....

and you don't need to cut or weld on your frame....
