Mullet Man
but something like a deer pig bird bear i've never seen one of those  lol i'm with 'csrmel' on this, i've been hunting once and killed a wild turkey. my brother has killed a buck. i didnt think it took much skill and he said the same. we ate both. the rush was definately there tho! population and menace killing is OK in my book but i dont get it as a sport for trophy
theshee
Some hunting doesnt take skill, turkeys included.... I promise there are places you could come to in wyoming, and if you are not a good hunter, you will go home with nothing. Fun, good hunting areas do require some skill. 00tbanshee
Nice buck ootbanshee thanx 625banshee. congrats on your kills too thanx 625banshee. congrats on your kills too mullet man how big was the turkey and deer you and your brother killed did you kill them legal or out of you r truck window (not being a smart ass) but it took me a long time to kill the buck that i did this yr there is a 99% chance you are not just going to walk in the woods and kill something like that your first time
Big Blue
but something like a deer pig bird bear etc... they look better in real life than mounted on a wall i think. theshee i would love to hunt muleys and yotes. Yotes are harder to hunt around here becuase of all the woods and lack of access to large enough tracts of land. 00tbanshee thanks it is largest ive taken so far Im having it mounted. Actually pigs are consisdered a varmit/neusceance in most states or possibly all they are fair game anytime. I personally enjoy the hunt, meat, time in the woods other than atvs it is the only other hobbly that interests me.
theshee
Coyotes are fun as heck to hunt. We jump shoot most of them, but it fun to call them too. I love living here in wyoming, theres lots to hunt.

dalegoldston
As long as you eat what you kill, unless its a varment. I would like to try bow hunting. I think that takes a lot of skill, or a really long shot would be cool also. But sitting in a tree by a feeder is kinda cheating to me but it really doesnt bother me. What is the longet shoot some here has made?

IIRC, the turkey was ~18lbs. seems like it has been forever  it didnt take very long for the kill, they were all over the place, in the dozens. i used my Grandpas Ithaca 12g pump. i dont recall what the buck weighed, it wasnt very big/old and had a small rack. (similar too what the guy posted with the baby in the pic) i do know my brother was gone for more then 24hrs, before he got it. said he just sat on his ass the whole time waiting for the oppurtunity. he used a rifle. had some great Venison sausage, chili, jerky etc., great stuff! it does take time/patience, i'll give you that. i know certain types of hunting require tremendous amount of skill and knowledge. but 95% of hunting involves sitting around quietly, waiting for the oppurtunity, calling out every once in a while and thats about it. patience and a good shot is about all you need to be successful. What is the longet shoot some here has made? Bow hunting is hard ive been doing it for 10 years and have only taken 1. Sitting by a feeder doesnt make it any easier the way I see it the deer are more leary in that situation. The smaller buck was 150yds or so there arent many shots that far around here, the deer I took w/ a bow was 40yds or so. Mullet man do you have any pics? There is more to it than just sitting around and waiting Ive only taken 3 good size deer in 13 years so the way I see it there is just a much skill and luck involved. theshee
Bow hunting makes things way harder, and you have to have patience like crazy. My dad has bow hunted for over 30 years and finally got a Moose and antelope in Pope and Young. Took him forever to do it though. He has killed quite a few antelope, a deer, a moose and an elk all with a bow. Its pretty hard when you go to flinging sticks at stuff.
00tbanshee
i have shot alot of deer with a bow nothing real big though it is way harder then with a rifle. hit a real nice one with a bow this yr and never got it. thats what i hate most about bow hunting. farless deer i have shot with a bow has been about 40-45 yrds any farther then that is stricky. 625banshee
The farthest i shot deer with my bow is about 25yrds its easy to kill them with a rifle all you have to do is see them and pull the trigger with a bow you have to get them pretty close and hope they dont see you.
