'04limited Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 ok guys just thinking about what kind of stuff to do next all i have dont right now are t6's and k&n pods. this is my first shee so i am still kinda weary of tearin into the motor although i bet it wouldnt be that hard. what do i do from here on out port? bigger motor? stroker? im not sure im a pretty big guy 250 and just want some more power to get my big a$$ around. also where i live is high elevation 5100 ft... i also like to go to the dunes gordons well and glamis a few times a year. so any info you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated. Quote
SoCalinIt Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Hey man! I was in your shoes not too long ago, and the best mod I have done (by far) is port work. The motor just opens up so much more. F.A.S.T. and Passion seem to be the most talked about builders on these forums, but I'm sure that there are many more great ones out there. I hope this helps. Good luck man! 2 strokes are so much more fun. In fact I traded my YFZ450 for my Banshee's. Have fun! Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 porting is the only mod our going to get 10-15 hp out of and not spend a grand.. thats the best bang for your buck, only thing is , if you plan on later on getting a stroker your going to have to have it reported to change the port timings.. Bansh-eman Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 so ditch the t-6 and get some t-5 or drag pipes if that what your going for... Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 porting, but youre gonna have to switch pipes. the t6 are gonna severely restrict performance of a good port job.. Quote
'04limited Posted November 30, 2006 Author Report Posted November 30, 2006 so would i be better off saving up and getting a strsoker put together now? or should i go ahead and get a nice port job done? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 well to do a stroker you got to have your jugs reported anyhow... if you can save the money to do the stroker you might as well do that... but theres alot more to it then just dropping in bigger crank and new pistons... you got to have your domes cut for the new stroke the jugs have to be ported to change the port timings for the added stroke... you should get bigger carbs or your only going to starve the bigger motor with stock carbs... reeds for thorottle respones. better pipes to not restrict the motor... a stronger clutch... possibly a longer swing arm depending on what motor you go with... as you can tell it adds up very fast... if you dont plan on doing much drag racing just have your stock jugs ported by a reputable builder and your going to have a whole new motor under you... but for sure get rid of those t-6 and get ahold of at least some t-5's... '04limited Posted November 30, 2006 Author Report Posted November 30, 2006 which pipes are better for a ported motor t5, cpi inframes or shearer? Quote
HotCarl Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 which pipes are better for a ported motor t5, cpi inframes or shearer? t5s are a better "all around" pipe where as the cpi and the shearers are more topend. the shearers have a narrower sweetspot that his high in the rpm then the cpi, They all are going to react very well to a good port job. for performace and fit and finish i would choose the t5s. Washburn Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 which pipes are better for a ported motor t5, cpi inframes or shearer? Do you have 2 Banshees? Both with t6s? If you do your options are limitless. Shit. Have one Duner one drag bike. One trail bike one dune/drag bike. Either way you will find all of the info here  Quote

Washburn Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Thats awsome. What type of riding do you plan on doing most of? That way we can all give you our advise on what the best pipe and port job you can get for your type of riding. Quote
'04limited Posted December 1, 2006 Author Report Posted December 1, 2006 alot of just playing around in high elevation 5100 feet with 5-6 dune trips a year down to glamis Quote
Washburn Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 Pods are definatly the way to go for your elevation. for playing around I would go with the T5s. Great all around pipe and even though its doesnt hit as hard on top as CPIs its compensates everywhere else. A play Ported 4mill stroker is always a good option for all around balls to the wall power. Mabey even a Cheetah cub if you have the scratch. V3s Coolhead/domes 18-19 cc bigger carbs you will need all of this to open up the motor. Then depending on the power you have you might have to look into a + swingarm so you arent on your ass every time you hit the throttle. Call around there are plenty of top notch builders rite here on this board that will make you fast as you wanna go and they wont rape you on price. Quote
