b_sandgren Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 I have a 472 Cheetah with Power Valves, should I be running big bore or small bore, can I be hindering performance if I choose the wrong pipes? Quote
Fireman-hott Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Big Bore, Yes and no. Lots of factors to run through to know for sure. Quote

RATBIKE0130 Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Get big bores. The small bore pipe stinger tube size is a little too restrictive on larger motors such as yours and cause the piston temperatures to be close to critical. Get the pistons hot enough and you will melt down. Quote

I would like to get big bores, but both shearer and CPI big bores fit really bad, the shearers hit the frame and the CPI are very tight on the air filters, has anyone tried both big bore inframes? Fireman-hott Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 THe stinger pipe on most will hit the air filters, they are designed around the airbox and dual 35mm with K&Ns stick out farther I just dented my filters to keep the outwear for melting to them. Quote
Yamahammer Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 i just installed bb sheers and yea they take a little message work. they hit at the lower bend on the frame just an 1/8 maybe and the left pipe hits the head about the same that was all the probs i had, they do sit right on top of my carb tops also but i am going to reshim it and see what i get . I have the flat plate front pipe hangers and just kept ading washers till i got them to line up and work, the price we pay for speed and displacement, really was not as bad as i thoguht but it did take me about 2 to 3 hrs to fully install them. i also used the rubber mounts off my fmf silencers to space the new ones out a bit and ad vibration dampening. i will try and get some pics up Quote

Does one perform over the other? Quote
