BANSHEEMANIAC Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 i was going to stay out of this, but ohwell, here i go! everyone on here is going to have a different appinion. i have seen just about every kind of piston fail at some point{ with my own eyes} . there are some people that says vitos sell junk, but let me ask you something. how many stock cranks have you seen fail? but people still buy banshees, and race the shit out of them? right? the point im trying to make is all of us dont have the same money. we can only get what we can afford, and we should NEVER go on here say! nunyabinness Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Short skirts are very dangerous IMO. especially on a cute blonde with a great @$$. they cause wrecks. lol. Quote
dajogejr Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Easy way to settle this one.... Call 5 top builders, see if they use them. Most experienced builders have used/tried every piston in the book. Since Vito's is in MI, why don't you call RDZ, Grand River Racing, Tyson Racing, A&S...(All in MI) and see if they use 'em. Then call a few other big names, see if they do as well. All of these builders spend hours getting one to two more HP out of their bikes. If simply slapping in a set of pistons make "Noticable" power, then these guys would use them. A lot of these guys live and die by dyno numbers and their results at the track... Who wants to make the calls? Quote

Who wants to make the calls? i think your missing the point .vito's ss pistons are for unported cylinders.as stated before they will not give the results that porting the cylinders give but if the cylinders are unported and a guy wants a little more performance for trails and such and don't have money for a port job.then ss pistons are ok.as stated before also if you have'nt tried them then you really should'nt say they don't work.i ran them in an unported motor and they definately do give a performance gain. dajogejr Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 I have tried them...and I didn't notice any more performance gain than a fresh bore and a fresh top end of any piston maker would give you. So... Based on MY experience, they don't do squat...sorry. Quote
differentstrokes Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 I have a mild port and vito's ss pistons and I'm pleased with the results. Then again, I'm also not a drag fan...simply an average banshee fanatic that wants a little more power and wants to keep my banshee somewhat trail friendly. I like them. Quote
Washburn Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Im going to have to agree with Tim C, but like said before by FAST1 he ran them and had problems. I suppose its all about application. If you are building a monster then I suppose they may not be for you. I have very little work done to my bike compared to alot of people on here, but Im 20 and dont have the money to drop thousands of dollars into a toy. So the vitos pistons was a good bang for my buck. I guess if you really want to know what to do and what would be good for you then just ask your mechanic since you seem to really trust him. Plus if you really trust him he must be a stand up guy and would stand behind what he says, so if something goes wrong premature then he will probably help you out with fixing the problem. Yeah I asked him about them and he doesnt recomend them. I went on to say the same thing I am going to tell all of you. I want to try them pistons just to see what a simulated port would be like. I have absolutly no reason to PORT THE HELL out of my bike. I want a mild port mabey a 4mill. That is all I NEED. I think I know what I want out of my bike. Im the one who rides it. No its not about money either. I dont have much but My guy will port it for me to whatever specs me and him agree on. ITS NOT REALLY THAT HARD (BUT WHATEVER) AS LONG AS YOU GUYS ARENT GETTING RIPPED OFF PRICEWISE! He will do it and work out a payment plan with me. Im still going to wait and save every penny I have for the ELKA Elites  lol I wouldnt call the "top 5" Builders bra. Cody told me its a risk but they do work and thats all anyone needs to know. I hope nobody wastes builders time on a piston question. Quote
4strokessuck Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 out of 20 races with 20 different riders you didnt lose one race.. are you counting only 4 strokes or were there some other banshee's in there...and in those races did you line up with anything fast? or are we just internet racing now, and in that world nobody has ever lost a race..if thats the case then my bike has never been beat..and it dont even have carbs on it..lmao. I knew there would be at least somebody who would be offended by my last comment. So because you asked a question, I will try to answer the best I can: 03 Banshee: Pro circuit pipes, v-force reeds, trinity head, Trinity 2 into 1 intake 00 Banshee: Pro Circuit pipes, v-force reeds, Cool head 98 Banshee: T-6 pipes, v-force reeds, cool head, adj. timing plate, 34mm carbs 02 Banshee: Pipes & silencers 2 YFZ 450's one piped 5 or 6 TRX 450R's some piped 440 ex 400 ex These were friends of mine and we had drag race sessions once a day on the 3 days mentioned. There were others but I didn't know them. First off I want to say that I AM NOT BRAGGING! I'm just simply replying to a question. I'll also admit that i'm NOT the fastest Banshee around. With my tires, gearing, mods, and launch technique, I honestly can say my machine does very well for what it is. I have lost some races due to missing gears, uncontrolled launch, and just being too cocky. In the end we all had a great time and we all enjoyed the fact that our large group had the chance to ride with one another. None of us came out strictly to drag race. We enjoy hill climbs, trail rides, drags, and quarry jumps and have built our machines to accomidate all of this. I will also comment that these pistons are NOT an alternative to porting. They ARE an excellent, cheap way of getting a few more ponies out of your machine. I did race a ported Shee a few years back and no piston would have saved me from that a$$ whoopin'. My apologies to the creator of this post for being off topic. Quote
rocketboy Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 I have to agree with lowriderb on this one ,never seen them snag a port though... but ive seen them crack at the intake windows too often to be considered a good piston, but i will also say some guys have had great luck with them too, there is probably 3 pages of old threads on here as to why the vitos arent as a reliable as good old wiseco prolites,I know i wouldnt feel good about trusting or recommending them on a motor that I ported. ive tested all the nGk plugs too and found the IEX irridums to be junk and the platinum egv series to perform the best for me.just my 2 cents  Quote
