The Faster Cracker Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 ok so i have heard that instead of porting i could get diffrent pistons that are cut diffrent. Im told that they are cut basically to act like a port job. any ideas or anyone heard of this? Quote
4strokessuck Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 I have them. Vito's performance makes them. They definately make a difference. I don't think as much as a real port job, but if you only have enough cash for a rebuild now and porting the following rebuild, then i'd say it's worth it. Here's some info on them: http://www.atvsource.com/articles/product_...ock_pistons.htm Here is Vito's website: http://www.vitosperformance.com/atv_parts/home.php Good luck. Quote
kubiac3 Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Do it! I've got the vitos super stock pistons, they are pretty awesome. Its kind of like a port job without the bike being less reliable. And less expensive. Im sure there not as good as a reall nice port job is, but it definitly made a huge difference. I guess the power pistons are for more low end and midrange and the super stocks are for more top end and midrange. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 no piston is going to give you the amount of performance gain as a port job... it dosent matter how big the cuts are in the pistons your only getting as much air / fuel mixture as the ports will allow... 100% for porting imo... how ever if your taking the jugs off you might as well get both done at the same time... moneybags Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Can you run the pistions if you have your cyclinders ported??? Dumb question  Quote
Washburn Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Wow this is perfect. Im going to get these instead of a port so I can save for shocks and have the power of a small port for extra play. I will try to install them myself too. Im going to get a price from my guy before I buy them off Vitos site though. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 you should definatly install them your self.. pistons are VERY simple to install.. and a stealership would charge you 200 bucks probly to do it... Quote
lowriderb Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 i would highly recommend you DO NOT get these pistons.. they are a waste of time and money.. save your money that you would have spent on these and get a real port job, you will be happier with the outcome and you dont have to worry about the pistons snagging the top of the exhaust port.. Washburn Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 you should definatly install them your self.. pistons are VERY simple to install.. and a stealership would charge you 200 bucks probly to do it... I have my own mechanic. He builds Banshee engines along with all of the 4 stroke racers out there and hes top notch. He has a few articals on him now. He will be huge as soon as he wants it. Yeah he charges but hes no stealership. Plus I could take it to his shop and he would do it rite in front of me and I would help just so I know next time. These pistons do seem a little to good to be true though. I dont see any of you running these. I see all of you running pro lites? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 yup pro lites are the way to go.. like lowrider said these can snag your ports and good buy juggies... Quote
lowriderb Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 if you have a mechanic putting this together then he should have the right mind to tell you not to run them.. they are cut on the exhaust side of the piston to simulate the exhaust port being higher than it actually is.. that is what they do.. pro lites with a port job is the way to go.. Animalman294 Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 you will be much happier with the port job. It may cost you a bit more, but it's worth it..... Quote
Washburn Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Well Im not doing it. I still wanna hear what my mechanice has to say though. Looks like a port job for me. But Im still saving for suspention first.(cartman) Screwwwww you guyss im going home. Quote
lowriderb Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 After reading this post I think I have heard it all now. ROFLMFAO Pistons will make more power. LOL Holy $hit thats funny. Thanks guys I needed a good laugh today. if you think thats funny listen to this.. a guy i work with was trying to tell me he had a banshee with high compression pistons.. i started to tell him theres no such thing, and he proceeded to tell me i didnt know what i was talking about.. so i start telling him what ive built and what i have currently and tried to expain to him that there are no SUCH THING as high compression pistons for a 2 stroke.. :: the conversation ended when he told me that he buys special b8es spark plugs that make it not foul plugs.. (at this point i walked out to my truck and got a ngk b8es plug, which he agreed is what he runs :shoothead: ), i told him he was an idiot and had to stop talking to him for the night before his dumbness rubbed off on me... without dumb people in the world, i dont think it would be as fun to be here..lol Quote
