:banghead: Hey, I need some help before I shoot my shee. I recently installed a new timing plate, stator w/pickup coil. When I put everything back together I installed a new key way along with a new flywheel nut. after a few laps I checked everything and found the flywheel nut had came loose. Hit it with an impact. was good for a couple of days but the nut has come loose again. Any ideas? :banghead:

some people use a pennt because the metal is softer then the gears and will bend the penny befor fuking your gears... but im not a fan of metal on metal... i use a shop rag fold it in half and wedge it in there instead...,,

your hitting it with an impact and its still coming off? that should butt that fuker way up on there!

tighten it down with a real socket and driver, you can make a flywheel holder with 2 bolts and a peice of box tubing. just drill out 2 holes and put the bolts through it and put the bolts in the holes in the flywheel to hold it. MAKE SURE the bolts dont hit your stator and end up ripping off the coating on the stator. I had the same problem, hit it with an impact and it came off, sheared the key right off. Tightened it with a socket and driver and no more problems. Also on my impact theres an adjuster to adjust how much torque it puts on the nut, could also try adjusting that.

Blue loctite and a tourqe wrench. Thats the right way to do it. You can't trust an impact, you have no idea how tight it really is. It could be under tourqed or over. Neither is good.

chances are if you got your tank full of air and you hit it with one small berrrp its going to be over the spec... like said above make your self a ganster flywheel holder and go that route...
