Ok, i know there are a ton of posts about this but i just cant get the damn brakes to work. I am building a banshee from the ground up and have not been able to get them to work. I have done tons of brakes before and never had a problem. I have switched out 3 different masters, the current one, i rebuilt with brand new piston, seals, and spring. I have fluid coming out of the calipers with no air bubbles but it comes out slow. And i have pumped, and tinkered with the bleeders for hours. Nothing works. It will not build up pressure. WTF :banghead:

I just went through the same thing, I used a mighty VAC and i started getting some pressure but not like it should. Finally I noticed that the brake lever wasnt pushing the nob thing on the master cylinder in far enough. I put a longer screw on the lever that would push it in further and it worked and now my fronts are good to go.

That, and makes sure you used NEW copper washers over the banjo bolts. The first time I did mine, I forgot to put back in the copper color gasket/washer before the banjo bolts, and all the brake fluid kept oozing out, drove me mad, then realized it. I found them and tried to re-use them, but one of the old one did the same thing.

I don't really know where you have fluid oozing out of, your post was a little vague concerning that, but thought I'd share the info about the banjo bolts.

I dont have fluid coming out anywhere it shouldnt. The fluid i do get comes out the caliper bleeder screws. And I have all the air out, it just will not build pressure.

I will try that longer screw thing. Isnt there a screw right on the brake lever? Or do i need longer than that?

Yeah theres a screw on the lever, I had to use a longer one, not much maybe a few threads longer for it to work. Also make sure you got the calipers on the correct sides. I believe the bleeder should pointing upwards.

whoa!!! i just put banshee brakes on my blaster today and am having problems with building pressure. i just did a search to find any info i could and here someone else is having the same problem. i think my problem is air from the m.c. because i let it get too low. but now i know how to do it fast.

Yeah, they are on the right sides and the bleeders point up. I guess the screw thing should work.

You could still have air in the lines somewhere though, i noticed these shee brakes are a real bitch to get working right sometimes, i think I went through 2 full things of brake fluid before I finally got it after I put a longer bolt in the lever, but it was right away after I did the bolt thing I could tell it was building up slowly.

easy way to bleed brakes is get a hose to fit the bleeder and long enough to go into a can on brake fluid... stick hose in the can, open bleeder and pump away it will circulate the air out then tighten the bleeder before you take the hose out of the can.. the problem with front braks is you bleed one side at a time so air just goes back and forth... if you circulate the fliud thru whole system it will get the air out...

Im new to this site and new to working on banshees. I just bought my second one but I never worked on my first one because I would just take it to get fixed, but i'm going to try to fix things on this one myself. Enough about me, I just wanted to tell u that I also had this trouble and got pissed off because I couldnt figure it out, so I just decided to go riding. I know this is going to sound crazy because I wouldnt beleive it if it wouldnt have happened to me, but they just started working. The only thing I can think of is the bouncing around that did it. Who knows??? Well anyway good luck.

Ive done that, no luck

I got some clear tubing and stuck it on the bleeder nipple on the caliper, and loostened the bleeder nipple and sucked on the tube until I could see brake fluid in the hose, then tightened the nipple. Do it on both sides, and then bleed them normally. It's a pain in the ass trying to bleed the front brakes if there's a large enough air bubble in the lines.
