I never did it that way though. I always take them off, and apart, buy that spray carb cleaner, spray the bowls, and clean them with a brass wire brush. I spray the barrel and main jets too, and use the wire brush to clean anything that isnt fragile. Spray 'em all again, then reassemble. Quote
sheefreak Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Your pilot will never be clean if you don't blow compressed air through it. I wouldn't use a wire brush of any sort. Carb cleaner and air is all you should need. Quote

BANSHEEPRO Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 ditto. compressed air and carb cleaner nothing hard and yes id take them apart Quote
Infamous039 Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Another good way is to buy the bucket of carb cleaner and sit your carbs in there over night with the jets out, so every thing gets cleaned. But if your looking for something quick then just spray everything with carb cleaner. Quote

Make sure if you use carb dip you have to remove everything that is rubber or plastic because the carb dip eats at the rubber and plastic. By the way carb dip is excellent, thats what I used to rebuild my buddies 1978 yz400 carb that was sitting for about 10 years and it got it to where it looked brand new. Quote
