i did a plug chop the other day on my banshee for the 1st time. i followed the instructions from the tech docs, and i'm not getting a reading. i'm trying to dial my bike in better, it runs great except the transition from 5th to 6th gear it will hesitate then slowly pick up. so whats going on here? when i first melted my motor i had 350 mains, since i rebuilt it i have run 380-400 with no change and still no reading on a plug chop.

my mods:

passion hot mx porting

t5s

noss head

v-force reeds

stock carbs (400 mains, 30 pilot, toomey needle 2nd clip, airscrews 1.5 turns)

pro-flo k&n with airbox lid removed

dyna ignition stock setting

altitude 1000ft and air temps 50-60

stock gearing

Did you cut the threads off the plug or are you trying to see from the top, you wont have an accurate visual until you cut the threads... your mains are large enough that if your doing the chop correctly you have problems elsewhere; air leak

Those are some HUGE Mains IMO. Have you checked to make sure you arnt sucking in air somewhere. I would think at only 1000ft(i am around 900) you should not have that big of main.

The mains and the piliot are big...seems to me like they should be droped...But the plug chop...make sure you get the bike warm on OLD plugs then put new ones in...get full blast then turn the bike off...take the plugs out put them in a vise and cut the threads OFF...the best reading is when you cut the threads off....should have about a 4mm cardboard brown look...

i cut the threads off 3 different times, and i did warm it up on the old plugs. i know i'm rich, so maybe i'll throw the 380s in and try again. can i do a rev out in 5th gear?

Unless Passion's MX port needs gas like a drag port....you're WAY rich.

You're still running an airbox AND cut lid...

You'll probably be closer to 330 or so...

And you probably could get away with stock or 27.5 pilot...

And try the Toomey needle in the 4th clip (6 grooves total, 4th clip from the blunt end)...

The Toomey Needles generally like to run down on a dlip a bit...they're much longer than stock...and if you're 2nd from the blunt end now, you're running on those needles for a long, long time.

Hate to say it, but...I think black sunshine is right. You might have an air leak...

my air box lid is removed, and i fried my rings with 350 mains during my last plug test. i havn't had a chance to toy with it due to weather.

if i had an air leak why would both cylinders be exactly the same?

is it possible i have a drag port instead of a mx?

make a leak test , if not don't worry my setup for stock stroke and 20 over, cpi inframe and stock carbs with pods is 420 and 32.5 with a custom needle  72hp@9700 pump fuel
